Seeing as the government appear to have kicked off their campaign Hmm I thought now was the time to start nagging talking about voting.

This weekend's talk about pensions shows in a nutshell why we need to vote. The government - any democratic government worldwide - is swayed by the need to please those they think will vote for them. So if you're not getting what you want from this government you need to vote because it is only when everybody like you votes that the wind will change in your governmental favour.

Register to vote, talk to your friends and family about voting, create some momentum and you will see change. The election of 2015 could see the biggest turn out from women under 40 ever. Anything is possible. There's been talk in the past about the 'mumsnet' election - well wouldn't it be great if that was a reality. Not in the sense of posters all voting one way, that's not the point. The point is wouldn't it be great if every user of this board voted? If every user of this board made their voice heard. It can happen.

And I'll be posting every day until it does Grin

^ that should say *vote in their own interest and Stuff everyone else

AmIIndecisive · 18/02/2014 11:19

If people think that the political parties don't properly represent them, then they should do something to change that representation and it is not difficult.

A SAHM has more to say and offer on the doorstep to a normal family than an old millionaire who has no day to day concept of real life, CVs do not matter, life experience does and a willingness to try and make a difference.

Boney - I was deliberately trying not to discuss party politics tbh. This thread is about voting - about expressing a democratic voice. I would not presume to tell people who they should vote for but I'm quite happy to presume to tell them they should vote Grin. As the election gets nearer I'm sure plenty of people will be up for discussing party politics and I'm keen for that to take place but this thread is about the act of voting not who to vote for. I'm sorry that's a disappointment to you.

"I was deliberately trying not to discuss party politics tbh. This thread is about voting"

I was just hoping that it would develop in to something more Grinbut I shall keep popping back in to see what's happening, (and bumping the thread.)

Voting (or at least turning up at the station For what ever reason) is always worth while.

I've always voted. And as I have always my entire voting life lived in safe seats for a party I don't support it would have made no difference if I'd stayed at home.
So is it worthwhile? Really? Because it is depressing time after time to vote knowing if you didn't the result would be exactly the same. Sad

But I do make DD vote,in spite of my cheesed-offness about it all...

LyndaCartersBigPants · 03/03/2014 23:34

Well i was feeling a bit despondent about voting and having read this thread I wasn't sure who I would vote for. Voted conservative last time and now living to regret that.

However, I just did the quiz mentioned above and got 95% conservative! Blush

Looks like that's who I should vote for even if I don't want to.

It was that or BNP at 65%. I'm a nice person, honestly

Giving it a bump on Northern 's behalf

Looks like Osbumface is getting things moving for next year by trying to seduce persuade Boris to get back into the Commons again. Boris is having none of it he's playing hard to get!

Mind you I don't think he did himself any favours with the Muslim community by suggesting they put " Muslim extremists" children into care.

I think he must have been on glue when he came out with that one!

Least in the 70's and 80's you knew what you were voting for. Militant labour in one corner and fascist Tories in the other. Now they are almost the same hence the reason ukip are doing so well.

Reading about Bob Crow I was thinking about this thread. Regardless of your feelings on union politics consider this - unions work for their members because of their strength in numbers, their strength together. The voice of the individual member is heard in the shouting of the many.
Same for voting - your voice is heard as part of many.
