Seeing as the government appear to have kicked off their campaign I thought now was the time to start nagging talking about voting.

This weekend's talk about pensions shows in a nutshell why we need to vote. The government - any democratic government worldwide - is swayed by the need to please those they think will vote for them. So if you're not getting what you want from this government you need to vote because it is only when everybody like you votes that the wind will change in your governmental favour.

Register to vote, talk to your friends and family about voting, create some momentum and you will see change. The election of 2015 could see the biggest turn out from women under 40 ever. Anything is possible. There's been talk in the past about the 'mumsnet' election - well wouldn't it be great if that was a reality. Not in the sense of posters all voting one way, that's not the point. The point is wouldn't it be great if every user of this board voted? If every user of this board made their voice heard. It can happen.

I would add to that... write to your MP if you don't like something. Be the squeaky wheel. Write To Them Very easy. Tell them what you think, what you want and expect a reply.

The triple lock on pensions is Labour policy too.

And indeed until Labour reveal their programme, with costs attached, then there is no way to make sensible comparisons between party agendas and how they propose to implement them.

I will vote. I currently have absolutely no idea who for though, they are all dreadful as far as I can see.

It'll bore the pants off everyone. They'll feel fatigued by it all when the time comes to vote, and won't be arsed to drag themselves off when it comes down to it.

I've voted in every election since I turned 18 and I now view it as a total chore. I have nearly always lived in wards/constituencies with vast majorities of either blue or red so it seems fairly pointless. Currently where I live people would vote for a stuffed monkey if that was the Tory candidate.

So, spoil your ballot. Tell them you care enough to turn up but that they are all too dreadful to vote for. They can't call you apathetic then.

MrsTP - I just couldn't do it! Like I can't stay at home. Democracy is too precious to me to be spoiled in any way (I was brainwashed by my political parents).

Anybody can click hide. That's fine. Every person who reads this and registers to vote then makes it out of the door to do so will be another pebble rolling down the slope to a huge turn out. It CAN be done

I have voted once in my life, I took the time to read the campaign bumpf they all make and made my choice based on hone policies I thought were good ...... Look where that got us, David chuffing Cameron.

I'm not sure I'll be taking the time again tbh.

NI payed for all SAHMS with DCs in full time education
A increase in the threshold for 40% tax
Real tax breaks for married couples and free home to school transport for all DCs up to 19

I'm considering spoiling my ballot.

I'm in the SE and whomever you vote for is pretty much a vote for the Tories, seeing asthe libdems have been Tory enablers for the last 4 years.

It doesn't matter who you vote for. The bastard government always gets in!

You could look at voting from another perspective, by voting you are legitimising a corrupt system of power which reinforces inequality within our society. Our very participation in this system gives it the authority it needs to continue. By a mass non voting the system loses power and we could restart with a fairer system not dominated by the minority, but with true and fair representation reflecting the true nature of our society. Just a thought.....

And I could come up with another totally non self centred list about, MH care, heating costs for the poor (tackling the scandal of prepayment costing far more). Decent public transport in rural areas like this, so households are not forced to run three cars to allow young adults any chance of working. Disability benefits for those who need them without hugely stressful assessment. Real SN support in schools.

But that has just lanced a few more flying packets of bacon.

My granny is in her 100s - she voted in every election she could . She's not well enough now

We've always voted - my granny taught how important it was, he taught us. Both myself & my husband both vote. It's such an important, hard earned right. I think we may take it for granted a bit. I have spoiled my vote before, I'm not going to any fucking eejit.
