AIBU to expect DH to eat my apple pie?

Long story short, I made DH an apple pie this afternoon. (He loves pie and I was being nice). He tried a bit when it was cooked and he had the temerity to tell me although he liked my pie, he would have liked it with a little more sugar as he has a very sweet tooth. He was quite correct, I tried it, it could do with more sugar as the apples were quite tart, but that's not the point!

Should I:

a) Suck it up like a 1950's wife, agree with his assessment and make him a new pie...

b) Be miffed that he is not grovelling in gratitude that I made him pie and inform him that next time he can make his own pie...

c) LTB?

Do you have maple syrup or runny honey to drizzle over it?

If not, I'm afraid you have to accept it's a failure. Thanks

FourAndDone · 04/01/2014 17:26

Shove DH out in the rain.
Pm your address.
I'll eat all available pieSmile

AceyT · 04/01/2014 17:27

LTB, defo. If he won't eat your pie, he's not worth your time!!

CrohnicallySick · 04/01/2014 17:27

Well, DH has more if a sweet tooth than I have and accepts that he has to add sugar to his, as if I make it to his liking I can't take the sugar out iykwim. So tell him to stop whinging and just sprinkle extra sugar on top.

AceyT · 04/01/2014 17:27

Umm, just realised what I posted... Blush

natwebb79 · 04/01/2014 17:28

I thought the thread title was a euphemism. Phew! Grin

Bodypopper · 04/01/2014 17:28

LTB... Seriously and send me your pie.

TheSmallClanger · 04/01/2014 17:29

I wouldn't make another pie. I'd just try to laugh about the sour pie, and do it slightly differently if I made it again.

pandarific · 04/01/2014 17:29

Can you sort of lift the top off and drizzle in some golden syrup? Oh well. Hate baking fails - so frustrating!!

Bodypopper · 04/01/2014 17:29

Ay, what's naughty about eating your pie?

EirikurNoromaour · 04/01/2014 17:32

Why would you make a new pie? Just sprinkle some sugar on the existing pie. Hardly a big problem.

5Foot5 · 04/01/2014 17:32

Definitely lever the top off and sprinkle in some sugar or something. Or what about making really sweet custard?

RubyGoat · 04/01/2014 17:33

Can you:

  • lift off the top & sprinkle on some more sugar or syrup?
  • serve with ice cream or custard?
  • tell him to shove it & never make him pie again?
ENormaSnob · 04/01/2014 17:36

I couldn't remain married to someone that wouldn't eat my pie Wink

FraidyCat · 04/01/2014 17:36

He can make custard, then the combination can be as sweet as he wants it to be.

BalloonSlayer · 04/01/2014 17:37

Get some of that nice sugary squirty cream. Squirt a good thick layer of it all over the top of the pie, so it resembles a circus custard pie. Then chuck it in his face. Grin

BellaVita · 04/01/2014 17:41

I would make some custard a little sweeter than normal to pour over top and also chuck a load of caster sugar over the top of the pie.

MooMa1d · 04/01/2014 17:42

MMMMMMMM Pie

Just sweeten it up when you cut a slice. Don't ditch it! It can be saaaaaaaaaved!

QuietTiger · 04/01/2014 17:43

Grin AceyT

Thank you for all the ideas to sweeten the pie. :)

To be fair to DH, he's quite happy to eat the pie and it is edible, but given that he never cooks apple pie, he's got some audacity to complain about mine! Maybe I should make him rock cakes next time... with rocks

He sounds like my DH. Comments on my cooking all the time and frankly anything more than toast is beyond his skills.

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 04/01/2014 18:52

Another one here who thought this thread was about something other than desserts Blush

OOAOML · 04/01/2014 18:58

My husband would smother it in ice cream. Personally I'd be expecting major validation for attempting pastry (there are probably loads of people who make pastry all the time, but it is not one of my skills).

peking · 04/01/2014 19:00

I much prefer fruit pie on the sour side. Like a zingy rhubarb, mmm.

For your DH just shove some honey inside it, or something.

AntoinetteCosway · 04/01/2014 19:20

Don't listen to all these selfish people telling you to LTB and send them your pie.

LTB and send ME your pie.

jay55 · 04/01/2014 20:09

I think he should make his own pie.
