Went down the pub tonite, its a family pub and DS didn't want to leave as was playing with his mates who are all older (when i say older i mean 5 and 7 years old), so told DS we had to get home as the nine o'clock horses were coming!!!

I fundamentally disagree with this kind of parenting.

I have no massive issue with this but what I despise is

"You better behave or the man will come to tell you off" pointing at a shop assistant, waitress or similar this ensuring that the parent never needs to be the one 'in the wrong'

I also don't like that kind of parenting and also parents who sneak out when leaving there child some were instead of just telling them I am going to x and coming back at y

i have no idea but my mum always said we had to be in by nine o'clock otherwise the nine o'clock horses would come!! i'm not mentally scared (i don't think)

I so tell my dc to be quiet and sit or whatever on the bus before the bus driver tells them off. Its not because he has more authority then me its because there are rules for everyone on the bus and the bus driver would tell me off if I was breaking them to. So when ds used to be a little spirited shall we say I would say sit down, he would say why and I would say its the bus rules and if you don't listen the bus driver will tell you to get off. I don't see the problem and he isn't damaged for life or unable to do as I say now hes older.
