I just despair at people's disregard for basic hygiene.
Bathroom sinks at people's houses with no soap, let alone a nailbrush,
greasy hair, dirty toilets, grubby fingernails, animal hair floating around and cats sitting on food-preparation surfaces. Am I stuffy or are people really grim about hygiene these days, despite how easy we have it wrt access to soap + hotwater?

But how clean do we NEED to be? All this angst over hygiene seems so ridiculous to me. It's cultural, and culture changes. There are no unassailable standards, just fashionable trends.

Only the soap sits by the sink everything else is in drawers. It's tidier and a belt and braces approach to hygiene as I feel flushing with the lid down is not enough. I also keep my nails very short and do a clinical hand wash most times.

Tea towels are changed with each washing up.

I shower every day and wash my hair. However my hair is generally starting to get greasy again by the end of my shift. As there's no showering facilities and I want to get home I end up outside with greasy hair. It's just the type of hair I have. Guess that means I've non existent hygiene standards Hmm

Do you mix in aristocratic circles? Ha Ha

Have you looked to see if there are any hand sanitizer dispensers on the walls? You may have missed them. If not perhaps you could offer to fit some. Another thing you could do is carry a handy pack of antiseptic wipes when you next visit. If you make sure you wipe all the surfaces etc that you come in contact with, hopefully you will avoid having contact with said grot and scum. Make sure you offer them around when theres a dog nose/dummy drop incident. yoou wouldn't want to appear selfish. HTH

I never needed a nail brush until I got sculptured nail extensions. They leave a ridge on the underside of your nail where dirt would gather that wouldn't disappear with normal handwashing.

Other than that I'm a right skanky cow.

nailbrush

I cannot think of a more vile horrid harbour of worm eggs and general dirt than a nail brush!

Op people who make these wild accusations like you are the people who think they clean a cup with a old germ infested scrubber used for the past year, in a sink of old dirty water with everyone elses germs floating round in it.

Why would you need a nail brush when you have a bog brush ... has nobody heard of duel purpose these days! nobody the country is on its knees.

I'm still reeling at the poster yesterday who had never had a skidmark or a pebbledash in their toilet and therefore had never had to do any more than 'drizzle' a little bleach to ensure a spanking pan!

You ain't seen nothing OP and are being a tad precious.

Now, if you'd said you'd opened a fridge and it was covered in a layer of mould then I might be able to agree with you on judgement of rankness.

I think we have a nail brush upstairs somewhere. I have never been hugely bothered about hygiene, especially not since having a dog. We also operate a 10 second rule for food dropped on the floor. We don't seem to have any more illnesses than anyone else though.... so why does it matter?

I have a nail brush. Somewhere. Its for taking dog shit, mud off The 'Tudes wellies/trainers.

I don't have soap. Soap is rank and reminds me of my nanna with soap cars so slim that you break in half when you look at them.

I have hand sanitizer in with the toilet ams another in the bathroom
