Hi Mn Smile

My friend has just finished a 3 day honey water fast and she has lost 7 lbs. Her tummy is flatter and she has lost the constant cravings for carbs

I need to lose an embarrassing amount of weight (40 lbs) and I already have a healthy sustainable weight loss plan set up (5:2 diet + 30 mins daily brisk walk + swimming 2x weekly)

The 'detox' is a cup of hot water with a small spoon of the purest honey you can find, drank 3-9 times a day for 3 days.

WIBU to do this just for a quick drop in the no. on the scale and to motivate me??

I have an event in 3 weeks and every pound counts.

Both of the previous posters are wrong about metabolic changes by the way, it takes a lot longer than 3 days to be affected.

The reason you're not losing weight is your drinking alcohol and not exercising enough. Sugar is metabolising to alcohol and your body is burning that and not fat.
Also training once a week is not enough, you should be training bare minimum three times per week at 45 minutes each.
Op, i wouldn't starve for three days but you could spend a day only eating vegetable soup, that won't do you any harm.

I mean alcohol is metabolising to sugar, whoops!

Skinhead I don't think you read my posts. I take in 1500 calories per day, when I drink that is included, so I eat less food. I train with a trainer once a week, and exercise daily - walking mostly, but also running two or three times a week. I am doing everything tight, it just doesn't work. I can live with that, s I am know I am healthy, but some posters were saying it is easy to lose weight. It isn't for everyone. As I also said, my trainer, who is qualified in training for weight loss, is mystified - even allowing for my underactive thyroid what I am doing should be working. Please give me some credit for knowing what I am talking about.

Skinhead - if its not working why keep doing it? If you were my client i would not have you running either. Have you tried sprint work? Or strongman style of training? Hard as fuck but jees does it burn the fat!! And way more fun too!

I give up. Nobody is listening to me. You all seem to think you know my body, food intake and exercise needs/abilities better than I do.

I don't see a problem with a three day fast to kick start your weight loss. As long as you are aware that if you take 7lb off in three days, at least 5lb of that will go back on ad soon as you start to eat again.

Fasting is very useful for re-educating your mind/stomach on reasonable portion sizes etc and under th right conditions I wouldn't rule it out. But I don't think it will result in a permanent loss of 7lb

Also a juice fast would probably have the same results but actually give your body some nutrients...
