I only find BC attractive when he has Sherlock hair. Any other hairstyle and I find him quite odd looking. The big hair balances out his strong features.

Couldn't agree more. His Sherlock hair really looks awesome, but when I've seen him on other shows like Top Gear or Jimmy Kimmel Live, his hair is kind of slicked back and makes his features too sharp, IMO.

Did none of you like him in Starter for 10? It rather put me off him

Oh, I love Starter for 10! But he's not attractive in it at all. He really isn't that attractive without the thick back hair and those porntastic suits.

He's played some rather unsavoury characters, Paul in Atonement for example.

Part of the appeal is his talent as an actor, I know some people try to pigeon-hole him as only playing posh intellectuals but they've obviously never looked at his CV in any detail.

I am disturbed to find I do not find him as attractive as I once did since I discovered that his earlobes are joined to his head rather than hanging freely.

I think that there is a Jeff Goldblum-ishness about BC which makes me suspect he might be immensely attractive in the flesh (as it were) whilst not always looking his best on screen.

DH, caught up in the drama, has taken it upon himself to stride purposefully towards me and pounce for a whole Sherlock like snog when I am just going about my day. This seems to tickle him. I can't say I object.

Agree that BC doesn't float my boat as himself although I can appreciate how beautiful he is. It's definitely a case of Sherlock fancying over here although only after that kiss. Who knew hair ruffling could have this effect?
