To be annoyed with this company re returning faulty item

I bought an electrical item for xmas which has a fault. Bought from a company via Amazon. Emailed using their "contact seller" option and received a quick reply. They are happy to replace it if I send the whole thing back via Royal Mail or registered post. It's pretty heavy and going to cost me a fortune to do that, as well as being a complete pain to package up and get to the PO. I'm really annoyed about it. Does anyone know if I have any right to insist they either pick it up or pay for the postage? Or is what they're asking fair since I bought online?

As it was faulty they would have to refund the postage costs, you'd have to send them a copy reciept.

Thanks for replying. Think I'll email to get it in writing that they'll do that. I guess this sort of thing is the downside of lovely, lazy internet shopping! Confused

It might be easier to return the item via courier

Your costs should be refunded. Perhaps the seller will arrange collection? Worth posing the question. You most certainly should not be out of pocket for returning a duff product.

Ask them to send out a prepaid returns label as the item is faulty. I usually ask for them if I have to return something as it's much easier than chasing for the postage after.
