This year has been beyond shit for me. My marriage nearly broke down...my Mum died (two weeks ago)...my Nan is about to...I've been ill on and off for weeks (probably stress induced) and have now just found out I've more than likely got bloody kidney stones

I was really looking forward to one last blow-out tomorrow night to tell the year to piss off and now I can't even have a drink because of bastard anti-biotics.

Not after sympathy as such, I just wanted to shout and scream and stamp my foot and invite anyone else who's had a shit year to do the same.

Here's to a better 2014...which for me would just be a year that's bearable!

I've only just finished a week's course for a bloody chest infection (they thought the pain in my side was a pulled muscle from coughing).

I'm not usually a moaner...I'm more of a dignified stoic type

But yes...I'm pissed off. Even if I could drink I don't really feel like it. At best I have a kidney infection and they've given me di-hydrocodeine for the pain which doesn't go great with drink.

I'll just have to postpone my NYE. We're going to a friend's as we're all in the same boat (young children, no baby-sitters) so the kids are having a sleepover while we have some food etc. I'm determined to have a good time.

Oh that's awful SamU2 I'm so sorry, what a shitty time of year for it. My Mum's funeral isn't for a couple of weeks and I still don't think it's hit me yet.

Some good things to look forward to so we don't drown in the depths of despair. My daughter starts nursery next week, I'm so proud she's been such a little star...I don't know how I'd have got through if it wasn't for her.

Fuck 2013.

The highlight was my dd being born. Two months later the bad started and didn't stop.

My son, 7, nearly had a fatal accident while abroad with his dad.

My DH got a speeding ticket whilst dealing with above emergency. He forgot about due to all the other shit and now has a court summons.

Our car we just financed last year completely broke down.

We moved ill MIL in, rented out her flat...flat flooded. Can't claim because the excess is too high. Still 100's of £'s worth of damage.

MIL died. Even though she was ill it happened so fast we werent prepared.

MIL's car, that we were hoping to sell for a new engine for other car, got hit whilst parked outside. Bloke who did it is dodgy so no insurance payout. Car has completely lost value.

DH has been diagnosed with psoriasis arthritis and has to start cancer drug that makes him ill. Hasn't been able to start it because of all the shit going on.

DH lost job because of ill MIL. She only wanted him with her at the end and his work had no compassionate leave. She didn't plan for funeral so we have that to pay now, too.

I have had abnormal smear and have to go in for further treatment.

DHs youngest son, 3, had a "meningitis-like strains" of a virus and was in hospital for weeks.

Fucking year. It can only get better for us both, OP.

As for me - yeah, 2013 was an interesting year. I survived two suicide attempts, stopped looking in the past and got rid of several toxic relationships, started a shit load of therapy, cried more than I've ever cried before, lost 7 (now 6) stone, got over my alcohol dependency, weaned off valium (mostly) and moved into an owned home with my boyfriend. There were dark moments where I knew it was the end, and happy moments by the beach drinking in control, BBQ's, hugs and realising my boyfriend is a buttache but loves me.

If you fancy a drink (in moderation) there are no known interactions with amoxicillin. From a pharmacist and fellow NYE hater!! Google NHS amoxicillin if you want to double check.

I'm another one glad to see the back of it. My mum was diagnosed with stomach cancer, gradually deteriorated, had gruelling chemo, ended up in hospital. While she was there, my dad became suddenly, dramatically ill and was subsequently diagnosed with multiple brain tumours. He died 4 weeks later, and mum 10 weeks after that. Awful year. Am hoping for a really mundane 2014 :)

Hope 2014 is a better year for you. You are me a just over a year ago with redundancies, 2x family deaths with in 5 days, breast cancer, broken leg in family member,living in about 5 locations over the year. For me 2013 was alot better year than previous couple. So heres to 2014 which will bring op a better hand. Also hoping water has a better year. Xxxx
