The 'Tude has tried to bribe me tonight!

I told him it was bedtime and he said he couldn't as his eye wont close Confused. I told him again and then he says:

"Look, let me stay up. Me wont tell no one and you can have one my chocolates I guess"

He then sat looking as if he was waiting for me to shake his hand and say deal!

I didn't take him up on his bribe. But AIBU to think I should be the one bribing and not a 4 year old?

Too smart for his own good. Watch out he's a smart one. Grin

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 29/12/2013 21:05

He isn't that smart. He only offered me one Grin

He's now sat with my iPod. I asked what he was doing and he said "man stuff"

Confused

DS1 was also a briber at 4. He's now 6 thinks flattery is the way to go.

"Turn that off and tidy your lego"

DS - "One more minute please! You know you are the most beautiful girl in the house?"

"I'm the only girl in the house, off. Now"

MerryChristmasMollyHooper · 29/12/2013 21:09

:o Man stuff.

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 29/12/2013 21:23

He is a funny kid. I've dumped him in bed with a DVD. He's a ball of energy tonight.

Tried trading me one of his cars to stay up after the chocolate plan fell though Grin

Ds2 is hasn't got the hang of bribing yet. More of a "do what I want I'll put you in the bin you gaga goo goo poo poo head" chap. If he offered me chocolate I'd be a more obliging mother. He's missed a trick.

RubyrooUK · 29/12/2013 22:42

I've got a three year old briber. He combines bribing with flattery and outright sympathy-gaining lies.

Example:

"DS, turn off the TV. It's bath time."

"Oh mummy, do you want to watch Swashbuckle? I will let you just this once but it's the last time, okay? Just for you, my mummy."

"No, turn it off. It's bath time."

"Oh but I love you mummy. You have such beautiful hair. Shall I stroke it?"

"Off. Bath. Now."

"Owwwwww!"

"What?"

"That pirate hit me mummy. He hit me. He is naughty. I better check he doesn't hit me again. Shall we watch Swashbuckle?"

And on and on and on and on....

My son gives me permission to watch TV.

"Bedtime kid"

"mum, you can watch your programmes if you want I guess"

"I know I can, bed now"

I love these! My DS also tries the "you can watch your programmes though" line whenever I try to turn off the tv!

SPsWantsCliffInHerStocking · 30/12/2013 01:34

It was his first proper bribe attempt so I guess I should be proud.

Shall see of he tries tomorrow. I might teach him to haggle

AlwaysDancing1234 · 30/12/2013 01:39

At least he is persevering in still offering you the chocolate!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/12/2013 01:44

AWWW! That's sooooo sweet! Smile

raisah · 30/12/2013 03:06

No bribery yet but my son declared that "I don't do garden centres in xxx town" when I announced that we will be going after breakfast. We are visiting my parents in my hometown & thought that we'd treat my mum to some new plants etc.

Danann · 30/12/2013 03:42

brilliant, DD is just full of excuses to stay up (there's a funny noise in my room, its too dark, its too bright, my beds too comfy, I'm not tired, I haven't done my homework etc.) Bribery might actually work

LittlePeaPod · 30/12/2013 06:17

Grin # the "Man Stuff"

Simply brilliant.. Clever little guy!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 30/12/2013 06:23

DD tried on christmas day at my parents house.
She offered to go and fetch everyone some alcohol and returned, very proudly with wine, beer and a G+T plus a bottle of blue WKD that one of my nieces had left a couple of months before "since it would go off in the fridge".
Nice try chick, but you are 12.
(she did have it over the two days she stayed there diluted with lemondade/tonic water/tap water)
