have phoned numerous times since October about dropped signal and problems. last phone call was few days before Christmas when I was told there was a fault on the line and bt openreach would be in touch. they came out Christmas eve and rendered the internet useless all day but thought it would sort problem so didn't mind but it's still happening all the time have been back in touch and am awaiting a call back within the hour. not sure where to go from here as it's been 2 months. I work from home and this is putting a serious dint in my workload. I only changed to ee in June so not sure I can even leave

Sounds rubbish. What about asking for your pac code thing and telling them your changing provider because they are not providing the service they offer. And tell them you do not expect to receive any early exit penalty bearing in mind the amount of lost business you've incurred. Tell them you're appalled at the service and that you need a reliable and stable connection. They're not providing that. Wonder if it's something you could quote the Sales Of Good And Services Act 1982 at them about. Worth a shot. It it implicit in the contract that you will receive a functional service so it could be a breach of contract perhaps? Maybe someone else will come along with more knowledge.

I did wonder that as when I have stated wanting to leave I am told I am in contract but it's okay as they will fix the problem but it never happens just continually fobbed off. annoyingly I have posted so many positive things about them but they have been a nightmare over this

This is an awful problem.
Although you are paying EE for your broadband service, your line is a BT one from a BT exchange. And the maintenance is by OpenReach who are a BT company. They are the ones who should be doing the work.
If you were to change to another supplier like Sky or TalkTalk , you'd still be relying on OpenReach to repair the line. So you'd be no better off changing, in fact you would be back to square one with reporting the fault all over again.
And you can't complain direct to OpenReach because they will only speak with your supplier. Really all you can do is to keep hammering EE. If you can, escalate a complaint to their Customer Relations staff rather than Customer Services. They may have more clout with OR.
Are you in a cabled area? If so you could cancel with EE on the basis they have never supplied the service you contracted for, and switch to Virgin. They are not perfect but IME they respond very quickly to cable faults.

Good luck with that: this is presumably a residential service without a service level agreement?

You can get Internet connections that pay compensation if they're out for more than three hours. They aren't fifteen quid a month. You can get products with a "guarantee" (whatever that means) of a 20 hour fix, which is the BT Wholesale "enhanced care". They also aren't fifteen quid a month; typically enhanced care is resold for about 12 quid a month plus VAT.

If I worked from home seriously enough that I'd lose money I'd get two different ones (Virgin and BT, BT and fast 3G, etc) so I had some resilience.

tried phoning them been cut off five times due to the dropped connection as my phones runs through a signal box connected to router. don't think I will be able to end contract as it is a home connection no bells and whistles. I am not a buisness but review/test products and feedback to the companies through forums so can't work without being online. so frustrating. have requested I am called back if connection drops but they haven't done so. so v annoying but do think I'm stuck in the contract
