Post Christmas clean up, I could cry.

I don't think there is a room I can say that is not full with clutter.

I have my friends staying for a few day so got to be done today and all I am doing is sat on MN.

So who has the cleaning fairy held hostage, please free her and send her to 5 avenue on.

I sympathise. However as I am drowning in crap and clutter I am no help.
I would have a panic attack if thought friends coming round...
Sure your house ids just Xmas clutter whereas mine more of a deep clean and declutter needed.
If you are in huge hurry loft an option?

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 27/12/2013 15:20

Still got a few hours yet.

I am a clean freak when I have guest, so the house will be done. I just can not be bothered.

I feel your pain Forty. Every room is full of plastic stuff. Much-loved already by DS's but B L O O D Y H E L L...

Lucky DH has gone back to work today, three of the 4 occupants of the house are suffering various maladies and there must still be 4kg of fecking turkey left.

No help whatsoever, sorry, I just wanted to say that I am cracking open the gin at 4pm.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 27/12/2013 15:29

Now that sounds like a plan, if I close my eyes I will not see the river of plastic tat.

ohhh i need a kick up the mum.
ds2 is 5 tomorrow and we are having a party. its his first ever proepr party, i was allways put of becasue of the timing, people are busy away etc.. but hes been asking for one so i had to really. my closest friends have said they will be there with there kids (which they all get on and are very close in age) so if the few i have invited from school dont turn up it wont be a huge disapoinment.

buttt iv just done the food shop for it.. come home and i really cant be arsed to tidy and find home and make room for a party....

MairyHoles · 27/12/2013 15:34

I just got finished cleaning so I know how you feel. My mum and gran literally just left, I had to call them to help me as I know I need someone to crack a whip behind me or shame me into action. It feels great to have it done and there's at least 4 car loads for the tip tomorrow. It's an awful thought but go start now, you'll feel great at the end!

RedPencils · 27/12/2013 15:37

Shove it all into one room and close the door. Job done.

steff13 · 27/12/2013 15:39

Our house is a disaster. Every single room is a mess. I'm off work this week and next, so I am taking our 3-year-old DD to daycare on Monday and Tuesday and tackling the whole house then. At least I can go into the new year with a clean house.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 27/12/2013 17:11

Just opened the wine oh god this house is going to be a right mess.

just finished laying the food for ds2 birthday party... creeper cake is made.. the living room is sorted.. how ever christmas and birthday presents have moved to their room... just dumped in there . and rubbish has been m oved to my room.
to top it of i feel like death warmed up

how moral wrong would it be to have vodka and redbull or two to get me through the day? Grin

Rooners · 28/12/2013 12:40

You should see ours, we're packing to move - well, I'm packing, the children are just making a lot of mess.

So all the cupboards are empty and there are piles of untidy looking boxes everywhere. It's complete chaos.

enjoyable in a strange sort of way - love having all the useless stuff in boxes! I may never unpack - but it looks dreadful until it gets better iyswim...not even moving for a few months. argh.

Good luck OP
I imagine your standards are higher than mine, I like going to messy houses as it means I can relax...so just keep in mind your guests may feel the same.

madmomma · 28/12/2013 12:53

Awful here. Just oceans of clutter :( Feel totally overwhelmed. Good idea re gin at 4pmGrin

HairyGrotter · 28/12/2013 13:12

DP and I managed to clear the flat this morning! I took the tree down, he cleaned the oven and vacuumed, I dusted and cleaned the bathroom, and we feel SO much better having got it done and dusted.

His brother is crashing at ours tonight and I wanted it 'habitable' although they won't notice by the time they get back from the pub later Hmm

wibblychristmasjelly · 28/12/2013 13:36

We are due home on Monday, and I've told dh we are blitzing the house, as I won't be able to relax on new years if its not clean...

Mumlar · 28/12/2013 13:42

I would resort to shoving it in a box/room for now. I've spent two half days trying to clear the Christmas detritus. I am promising myself a great big sort out/clear out in the New Year. I always think that the week between Christmas and New Year should be spent up to my eyes in mess, chocolate, crisps, cheese and alcohol. Fresh start next week.

wonderingsoul · 28/12/2013 17:38

party is finally over... ds2 had a blast.. well they all did.. my friends stayed and we had a sneaky drink between supervising the kids.

all 3 told me i looked like shit so they washed and tidied up for me so i didnt have to do it once they all left.
made me a bit gushy and emotional.

still need to sort homes for presents but party clear up has been done.
