AIBU to not really care for Christmas this year with a newborn baby?

My DD is now just over 3 weeks and I'm feeling a little less unstable and more like the 'normal' person I once was albeit a tired version.
But this Xmas I'm just not bothered about it, I don't wanna get tipsy or drink too much. I don't want to even go visiting so we r not. My parents, brother and uncle are popping in for hour or 2 (I told them they could come got short while, is this unreasonable?)
I just wanna eat some nice food, and chillax with my fave people, my partner and my beautiful baby girl.....
Also am I bad for not decorating the flat? Is it bad I haven't bought a Xmas gift for my baby?? I've bought her everything she needs this month anyway..... And she will likely get spoilt from family and friends!

Nope, my DD's birthday is on 3 December and I was exactly the same in her first Christmas. Enjoy and congratulations!

No yanbu. Quite natural to feel this way with new baby. Congratulations!

momentofmadness0 · 24/12/2013 16:19

I'm feeling exactly the same. DD2 is 4 days old and I had a traumatic delivery that has left me feeling battered and bruised. I still have to make an effort for DD1 who is nearly 4 but if it wasn't for her, I would be doing absolutely nothing. And Ibhave only bought 2 gifts for baby. i wouldnt have bought any but I didnt want DD1 wondering why Santa hadnt brought her sister any presents. So no, YANBU. Enjoy these precious early weeks and congratulations.

Completely understandable - don't set any expectations or pressure on yourself, just enjoy the days as they come along. Have a gorgeous time cuddling your LO and a big Brew for you for your amazing-ness!

PansOnFire · 24/12/2013 16:19

Nope, YANBU, this was me last year. Relax and enjoy your baby.

My 2 girls are the 2nd and 7th December (age 6 and 1 now), I felt exactly the same after they were born. We went to inlaws both times and I got to sit on the sofa, feed and be waited on hand and foot. Was great!

Stop worrying! You do what you want and if anyone makes comments ask them what business is it of theirs!

Yanbu. My dc3 is 2 days old! Will be excited tomorrow when the other 2 open their presents and dinner with family will be nice (ill be sitting on the sofa being waited on too Grin ) but today I don't feel remotely festive!

Andrewofgg · 24/12/2013 16:45

Make your family help while they are there, not just drool over DD - drool-worthy though I'm sure she is!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 24/12/2013 16:57

Nope ! Enjoy every second. I have a 10 week old. Family are delivering Christmas Eve dinner tonight then leaving us to enjoy it on our own. Coming for Christmas Day tomorrow but it will be very low key.

Rinoachicken · 24/12/2013 17:00

Nope! I have a 4 year old and a 4 day old. I have DM and MIL staying here at the moment and all I want is to tell everyone to p*ss off and leave me and DH and our DS's alone!!

MrsHappyBee · 24/12/2013 17:08

Your plans sound spot on. Have a lovely day with your new arrival.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/12/2013 17:11

I'm 36 weeks pregnant with DC2 and not feeling at all festive but doing my best for 3yo DS. Parents are doing the catsbumface because I haven't invited them for dinner, just said come to us 2-5 because I'm so tired and uncomfortable I can't face entertaining etc.

Do what feels right for you and enjoy it Smile

YANBU. I am 36 weeks & I'm just going with the flow...in between throwing up and becoming stranded everytime I sit down due to SPD.
DH on the othef hand is VERY excited & has bought enough food to feed a small town.
