Aibu:

Not to have had the twitch
Not to have had a pre-Christmas melt down
Not to have had a panic about what I've bought/not bought
Not to have spent £400 on booze and meat
Not to have given the whole house a 'deep clean'
Not to have bought the dc Christmas PJs
Not to have had an almighty row with dp about the fact that I've wrapped more presents than he has?
Not to have had a fight in a post-apocalyptic-esque supermarket over the last bag of sprouts?

It seems that on here everybody is getting themselves into a giant stress-induced Christmas panic. Aibu to be completely chilled out?

YANBU but I am envious! I'm not bothered about a lot of things but I do want to give the children the best possible Christmas. I don't buy gifts for every single member of my family and they don't buy gifts for me, I'm not getting into debt for one day

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 15:55

:) I love Christmas, and think the dds will be happy with their gifts, but cba with martyrdom and all that jazz.

I'm feeling pretty chilled out too- but very unChristmassy.

DP and I even got the traditional Christmas argument out of the way earlier, so we've literally nothing left to do.

Am online bargain hunting in the sales Grin

ScarletLady02 · 24/12/2013 15:58

I think it's probably just more likely that people only post when things are going hellishly wrong Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 15:58

Love the idea of ticking the argument off the 'to do' list!

What are you after in the sales? I've banned myself from looking.

OP posts:
Pobblewhohasnotoes · 24/12/2013 16:01

Well I've cleaned. But I haven't done anything else on the list!

tethersend · 24/12/2013 16:05

Hmm, that's the problem- I don't know!

I'm starting a new job in January, so vaguely feel like getting some work clothes, but then bought some navy boots from the & Other Stories sale so obviously need a new outfit to go with those Wink

I really want the DVF dress I've had my eye on to go in the sales, but I'm not holding out much hope...

What are you getting from Santa this year?

FunkyBoldRibena · 24/12/2013 16:05

I've tidied but no stress here - we don't usually even have a roasty dinner [veggies so no need] but I decided I fancied one.

The only extra thing we bought other than the usual food is a pack of 4 mince pies. And 3 selection boxes for the girls even though we scoffed one between us last night. I didn't even know OH had bought sprouts until I found them on Sunday afternoon when looking for a cauli.

I am sat here trying to write an essay. Sigh. I just want to get it done now but it's SO dull. Making curry for tea in about 90 minutes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 16:08

Veggie here too, but the dds have become carnivores again so they and dp will be having chicken.

Good luck with the essay, Ribena.

Tethers - fingers crossed for the DVF sale. No idea what I'm getting from Santa but expect there will be at least one thing in a Clarins box. :)

I'm done ..... all veg prepped and ready to go ..... Im just about to shave my pits, trowel a face on, squirt the perfume, put my best bra on and show a smidgeon of decolage (stuff you feminism) and wander off over the local pub with DH where men will buy me drinks all night

I really dont see how people get hysterical over a bloody glorified roast dinner

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 16:14

Ooh have a lovely time at the pub. I'm going to have a bath and then put on my warmest clothes and wellies, to go carol singing!

OP posts:
ScarletLady02 · 24/12/2013 16:15

We're not even having a roast...we're doing Jamaican curry, rice and peas etc. For no reason other than it's cheap, easy, delicious and we all love it Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 16:16

Sounds fab. Any chance of a recipe for any veggie stuff?

OP posts:
FunkyBoldRibena · 24/12/2013 16:18

We've had chilli and nachos for Christmas day for the last 8 years - just a normal veggie chilli and normal nachos with cheese.

YouTheCat · 24/12/2013 16:20

I'm pretty much all done. Very little stress in this house and plenty of chilling.

Prepped the veg and now having a boozy mincepie and a g & t. Grin

I really don't get the stressing out and arguments. Christmas is about chilling, giving people a smile and having fun imo.

mrsjay · 24/12/2013 16:22

I have only had 2 out of your list so YANBU and who the hell spends 400 quid on booze and meat

stickysausages · 24/12/2013 16:23

Yanbu!!

I've made soup, mince pies, started trifles & tomorrow's beef in red wine, house is tidy, have one parcel to wrap tonight, DS is bathed, were cosied up watching toy story Grin

HairyGrotter · 24/12/2013 16:24

I'm all done, now sat on the sofa supping on a mulled cider ;)

No £400 on booze and meat, booze sorted thanks to DP getting a shed load from his clients Grin

And..........relax

sockssandalsandafork · 24/12/2013 16:28

YANBU but maybe a little smug!! ;)

I'm boiling giblets and soaking trifle sponges, going to crack open the Baileys in a minute

AntiJamDidi · 24/12/2013 16:29

YANBU at all. I'm feeling very chilled too. Took dd2 to the cinema for the kids am showing of Arthur Christmas this morning, I helped her wrap presents for other people and now we're just chilling.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 17:35

Yum to trifle. Hope my mum will have made some for Boxing Day.

Have a good evening, everybody. Time to wrap up warm for the carols now. :)

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2013 17:36

Socks - didn't mean to be smug: just a bit tongue in cheek after reading loads of articles and threads etc about people stressing out. Sorry if it was smug.

Okay, off to the concert (smugly). :)

Taffeta · 24/12/2013 17:41

YANBU. My DC are 10 & 7 and this is shaping up to be the most stress free Christmas post children.

I have cut corners where it doesn't matter, and prepared where it does. Dominos here in a minute for dinner.

Feeling happy and relaxed.

Happy Christmas everyone. Xmas Smile

sockssandalsandafork · 26/12/2013 17:13

Haha smug off Remus :) Hope you had a lovely Christmas :)
