I'm about to start my big Christmas clean and tidy. AIBU to drink gin while cleaning?

I think it's the only way to get through a deep clean of the whole house while fending off a fractious 6 year old....

YANBU! Merry Xmas!!

DragonMamma · 24/12/2013 12:43

YABU for not starting both earlier. Say breakfast time.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 24/12/2013 12:43

YANBU.

I am also cleaning and listening to music! I don't like gin (and can't drink it anyway as I'm pregnant).

Salmotrutta · 24/12/2013 12:46

YABU at all!

I'm approaching the not deep clean in the 10-10-loaf strategy Grin

Dinnaeknowshitfromclay · 24/12/2013 12:46

Christmas it up by, say, making it sloe gin or summat? In the absinth of that though, normal gin is fine. Cleaning without intake of gin (or gin substitute) is not normal here at all tbh!

Salmotrutta · 24/12/2013 12:47

Dinnae - if that "absinthe" pun was intentional it was pure genius! Grin

MrsChristmasBungle · 24/12/2013 12:47

Yanbu! Mine is finished and as soon as I've dropped some presents round to my friends I shall be cracking open the vino!

Salmotrutta · 24/12/2013 12:48

Oh shaddup MrsChristmas! Grin

Finished indeed...

Balistapus · 24/12/2013 12:49

YABU

Sherry is the traditional accompaniment to Xmas cleaning. We cracked ours open about an hour ago.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 24/12/2013 12:51

Ok, I'll start with sherry :)

I have been in work until 12 otherwise I would have started earlier.

Thanks Vipers!

Half way through my big clean and tidy, haven't started on the booze.... yet.

DeathByLaundry · 24/12/2013 12:53

My lovely friend used the blackcurrants and blaeberries we picked this year to make gin. Holy crap I'm going to be blootered by the time the presents are all wrapped!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 24/12/2013 13:43

Bathroom and study done. On sherry #2 and feeling no pain. 6 yo is flapping a duster around causing more dust than she's cleaning up

Cleaning with wine here! Hic...

Lulu1083 · 24/12/2013 13:50

woodburnerbabe surely that's a waste of wine? Clean with bleach and save the wine for drinking Grin Wine

Crinkle77 · 24/12/2013 13:51

YANBU. Put some music on while you're at it and have a boogie.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 24/12/2013 13:53

Paolo Nutini currently on full volume.

God I'd like to shine his Christmas baubles for him Xmas Grin

And now it's gone down my nose, snorting with laughter! Better open another bottle, hey ho Grin

JoyeuxNoelHeadbands · 24/12/2013 13:55

Heh

Just done the traditional Xmas 'attack the oven door with mr muscle and knife' thing, accompanied by sherry and French and Saunders on R2

ouryve · 24/12/2013 13:58

Sticking with herbal tea while I potter around, this afternoon. I have slightly gripy guts. Don't want to push it.

Got most of mine done, anyhow, that I can be arsed with. Just need to take out that box full of recycling while we're in between snow flurries and get my gammon on to boil.

WoodBurnerBabe · 24/12/2013 14:00

Thanking my lucky stars that the ovens clean themselves - they are currently halfway through nuking themselves, before Turkey goes in this evening...

I'm so pleased I'm not the last person on Mumsnet to tackle my filthy house Xmas Blush

Well the upstairs of my house is spotless. I am now in the bath with a baileys.

Although downstairs is like a bombsite and I have meat to prep, a cheesecake to make and husband and children on their way home. Bugger!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 24/12/2013 14:37

Spare room made up for guests. About to tackle the kitchen which is a bombsite. On to red wine for this one....

Are we supposed to tackle our oven doors?
