To think Santa present should be wrapped in different paper

AIBU? DS are 2.3 and 11 weeks. DH thinks that as they are so young it doesn't matter, I disagree.

OP posts:
ROARmeow · 23/12/2013 14:39

Doesn't matter.

ilovepowerhoop · 23/12/2013 14:43

santa brings all the presents we buy for dd/ds (other peoples presents are from those people) - I do different colour of wrap for each child i.e. ds's has a blue background and dd's has a red background

shoppingbagsundereyes · 23/12/2013 14:47

We started wrapping in different paper when ds was about 3. I keep it hidden too.

nicename · 23/12/2013 14:48

Of course it matters!

He/the elves always uses the thin, cheapo retro paper with kiddies sledging, 1950s tree scenes, snow scenes, churches and puppies in santa hats. He buys it from the pound shop on Portobello, or the cheapo general store on Church Street market off Edgware Road. That is a fact.

Pagwatch · 23/12/2013 14:50

Santas presents arn't wrapped here. So that's easy.
I have enough wrapping to do. Besides it earns that things like Prams or race tracks are already made - not in a box

FortyMerryFuckers · 23/12/2013 14:52

Yes Santa always uses different paper that is never seen at any other times.

PaschasDanglyReindeerBaubles · 23/12/2013 14:52

Santa doesn't provide presents. He just brings the stocking tat. Presents are from people. Real ones.

DingDongUriGelleryOnHigh · 23/12/2013 14:54

This is the sort of thing has put me off doing "Santa" for good. Go ahead but you're doing it for your own benefit, not your kids. They ain't bothered who the presents are from.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 23/12/2013 14:55

All presents are santa presents here, except the family and friends ones. It doesnt really matter.

Chivetalking · 23/12/2013 15:05

Santa only delivers here so the presents are wrapped in whatever design is nearest.

CBA with the drama of anything else.

HmmAnOxfordComma · 23/12/2013 15:08

We don't do Santa presents here either, so that's not an issue, but I do insist on buying two sorts of wrapping paper to distinguish our gifts from those I've purchased with MIL's money (because she doesn't do her own shopping for ds).

blackandwhiteandredallover · 23/12/2013 15:09

We're doing that this year as DD1, nearly 6, is very suspicious! Also wrote labels from santa in odd curly writing Grin. Previously we haven't bothered though.

Yup yup yup. Anyone who does differently is strange. Fact.

Mim78 · 23/12/2013 15:10

Crossed my mind but was too late.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 23/12/2013 15:10

Santa uses different paper for each child in our house so no need to put name tags on the parcels.

NoComet · 23/12/2013 15:12

Ours always were and it was hidden away from the rest of the paper. Santa had different labels too.

Fairylea · 23/12/2013 15:13

Doesn't matter at that age but when they get to 5 (dd is now 10 but im remembering when she was 5) they ask why Santa's presents are in the same paper as ours... I had to tell her Santa obviously ran out of paper and had to use ours!! Ahermmm.

(We have presents from Santa and presents from us).

RedPencils · 23/12/2013 15:14

Course Santa wraps in different paper. Vh

butterfliesinmytummy · 23/12/2013 15:16

I had it pointed out to me one year that "Santa uses the same wrapping paper as mummy".....

HSMMaCM · 23/12/2013 15:19

Santa wrapped everything in DD's stocking in gold paper when she was little, then he had several years of not wrapping at all (the stocking is the wrapping) and this year (DD is now 14) he has mysteriously used the same paper as we have used for our own presents Grin. Not sure why he bothered to wrap this year though ...... I mean ... who wraps a bag of coins and a satsuma?

1nsertnamehere · 23/12/2013 15:22

All the good presents here come from real people - Santa provides the stocking, wrapped in different paper. I do have one friend who doesn't do this, and was shyly asked last year "Mummy, why didn't you get me a present?".

They started noticing the paper thing at about the age of 3. We did have a panic one year where DH used the Santa paper for someone else's gift :-o he said they wouldn't notice, but they did, and we had a lot of explaining to do. That was the year my eldest stopped believing, and I think that was the nail in the coffin.

Xmas2013SantaB1610 · 23/12/2013 15:25

Santa's wrapping department use their own paper, and it is generally red but always has pictures of Santa on it. (Hidden at the back of the loft.......hope no-one goes there/wonders why Mum is so shouty about not hunting all over for the tree/decorations up there, leave it to Mum or dad !).

If Santa leaves messages/tags on presents the labelling department use a lettering stencil.

Keeping the magic going as long as possible in this house, there will be no slip ups/ handwriting recognisable, oh no, not as long as I'm in charge !

Not wrapping stocking presents though - too fiddly and time consuming. The stocking itself is one big wrapper.

CheckpointCharlie · 23/12/2013 15:25

The 2 yr old will know! Dd1 sussed FC out because she recognised the paper from the year before. (She was a bit older but still!)

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 23/12/2013 15:36

Yes definitely different paper. Have sent dh out to get some more as they would notice if we used same paper

MrsMangoBiscuit · 23/12/2013 16:15

I have a big roll of Ikea paper with little Santas on, hidden in the back of my wardrobe, where apparently even DH can't find it. This is for stocking presents, because that's all Santa brings. Stocking things will only be wrapped while DDs are little, and those extra 10 minutes while they're ripping paper off things is still precious!
