To think Santa present should be wrapped in different paper

AIBU? DS are 2.3 and 11 weeks. DH thinks that as they are so young it doesn't matter, I disagree.

Do yourselves and favour and just don't go down this route.

WooWooOwl · 23/12/2013 16:18

I agree with you. We always bought paper with Santa on it and used that only for Santa presents.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/12/2013 16:23

They are probably too young to notice - but it is something I did (and still do) once the children were a bit older. They are now 16, 18 and 20 - I could probably stop, but it would feel wrong! Xmas Blush

LittleBearPad · 23/12/2013 16:25

Santa just brings stocking presents here and they aren't wrapped.

sugarplumsparkleberry · 23/12/2013 16:36

This year Santa may be using pages out of a magazine to wrap up presents as it's too windy and wet to go shopping again.

Seff · 23/12/2013 16:43

Well we haven't used different paper, just what we've had leftover from previous years. DD is 3 1/2 this year, so we'll see if she notices!

(I've managed to use it all up now anyway)

tinkerbellvspredator · 23/12/2013 16:59

Was thinking we'd get away with it for one more year but you've spooked me so have just asked DD (3.5) if she wants me to send her favourite Hello Kitty wrapping paper off to the elves for her presents. She replied in the affirmative so we should be fine.

antimatter · 23/12/2013 17:00

yes, very wise!

WitchWay · 23/12/2013 17:00

Absolutely, Santa uses different paper in our house, usually a fun slightly childish print, different tags too & no fancy ribbon!

I was thinking of buying different paper from me and DP to Santa but I think I'll probably go for the line my Mum fed me and my sister & brother 'I send the paper to Santa'. We each had our own paper but I think it'd have been a bit much to have two each.

Pixel · 23/12/2013 19:41

FC only fills the stockings here and I used to wrap all the little parcels in tissue paper tied up with shiny ribbon. Elves don't buy their wrapping paper at ASDA you know, and they aren't very good with sellotape either.Xmas Wink
Besides, it kept dd quiet for some time on Christmas morning undoing the stocking so we got a bit longer in bed!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/12/2013 20:00

santas's should be wrapped and also small and stocking

big/exp pressies i think should come from parents so that kids learn to appreciate what they get given when older

ie they demand want a bike, costing say £100 and if from sanata assume they will just get it, while if from parents when get to 5/6yrs will hopefully reliese that mum and dad worked hard to pay for it

prettypleasewithsugarontop · 23/12/2013 20:08

*kids do list and send to santa
*santa tells parents what kids want + santa chooses ONE thing to send kids
*parents buy presents and paper
*presents and paper go to santa and the elves wrap everything
*santa delivers all presents on xmas eve

we dont have kids gifts under tree at all, they just arrive for xmas morning Grin all gifts wrapped in same paper per child (dd1 has black paper with candy canes, dd2 has red santa paper)

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 23/12/2013 20:08

Gah - we've already wrapped ours using the same paper as for general presents to family etc. We're doomed aren't we? DCs are 5 and 3. I don't have to redo them do I?

BlingBang · 23/12/2013 20:18

Fascinating how everyone has their own little traditions etc, was reading the Christmas thread about the controlling inlaws who wanted all present opening to wait till they said so.

All our presents are from Santa and we open them straight away - how very WC we are! Friends and family give separately. Usually do each child in a different paper so we don't get mixed up.

BlingBang · 23/12/2013 20:21

And all through my childhood we never got our presents wrapped. We would come downstairs and our present would all be set up waiting for us. Eventually told my mum when I was an adult I loved my presents wrapped and she started wrapping them! Smile

sooperdooper · 23/12/2013 20:21

Wow I'd not even thought about all this....

Mammagaga · 23/12/2013 20:29

Different paper... May not notice now but what about when looking back at photos...

BigWellyLittleWelly · 23/12/2013 20:30

I've just had rhe very same conversation with DH.

Both girls have different paper for under the tree gifts (from us) but the same paper for stocking fillers (from santa) which is the way we did it as children

mrsjay · 23/12/2013 20:31

we always wrap in hidden paper different wrapping for each child saves them getting mixed up too, my dds are older and we still do it

mrsjay · 23/12/2013 20:31

oh when we did santa presents it was different paper for that I used to go througha lot of paper

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 23/12/2013 20:36

Worse than recognising wrapping paper we had "Mummy these are just like the ones in the yellow moon catalogue aren't they?!"
Ours aren't wrapped, we go for a direct from Santa's workshop look and who could be bothered to wrap all that tat (slightly jaded mother of teens here, but still love it really Xmas Smile)

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 23/12/2013 20:37

We've never bothered and the DCs (9 and 7) have never said anything. We also don't do different paper for different DCs, or for adults, also no colour coordination, all just wrapped in whatever roll comes to hand.

Hulababy · 23/12/2013 20:41

FC doesn't wrap his gift here.

It is one item, unwrapped, out of box and ready to use - often you can see a trace if magic elf dust nearby too.

Ninasaurus · 23/12/2013 21:09

I think they are too young to notice this year.

Get different paper for next year though, the 3.3 year old might notice then!
