To think Asda shouldn't take all my money before Christmas and then not deliver my order?

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 12:50

Had an order for this morning, £140 of Christmas food. It never arrived, and it seems they've cancelled it. They didn't tell me, btw, it took an hour of chasing to find that out.

They've 'returned' my money but it will take up to three days to clear. Bit late then.

How are they allowed to do that?!

:(
Is it because of the weather?
The transaction does go through before it's delivered usually

geologygirl · 23/12/2013 12:54

You need to insist that they deliver today. Can you do that?

geologygirl · 23/12/2013 12:54

You need to insist that they deliver today. Can you do that?

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 23/12/2013 12:54

Oh no! Can you ring the bank and see if they can help release the money to you before then, or give you an overdraft so you can get some shopping sorted?

Asda are supposed to deliver my Christmas food shopping today. If they cancel, I'll scream.

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 12:55

They're refusing, the transaction is cancelled as far as they're concerned and the money will be returned so it's all ok?!

The weather is ok here.

They aren't doing redeliveries. I asked via they have missed twelve items out of my order and there us no way I am taking my sn child to the shops today. Grr

RevoltInParadise · 23/12/2013 12:57

Sorry. Typos. On phone

huhmuhguh · 23/12/2013 12:58

They did this to me last weekend. No valid explanation, no apology. I won't shop with them again now.

delilahlilah · 23/12/2013 12:58

Have they told you why they cancelled it?

Fudgeface123 · 23/12/2013 13:00

I wouldn't have said all is OK if OP cannot afford to buy food for Christmas as the money won't be available until after the event! I'd be going down the local ASDA and demanding my money back. Bastards!

delilahlilah · 23/12/2013 13:01

Also, although it should be quicker than they said, do bear in mind that it is working days - so Xmas day & boxing day won't count . I online shop, but would never use asda again based on the stories I keep reading online. I couldn't risk it as we have such a small budget as it is.

ivykaty44 · 23/12/2013 13:02

asda have a habit of taken peoples money in store and nine and then not giving the goods over…

they tried to do this with me in store and I refused to budge, they said transaction hadn't gone through and then refused to give me a void receipt until I refused to move until they did give me a void receipt - took about 30 minutes in total to sort out something any other shop does in a minute or two.

I have never shopped with them again and have seen complaints on mn abut them taking money and not returning money for three to four days

beamme · 23/12/2013 13:03

Oh god mine is supposed to be coming tonight with all the fresh food/meat etc. Money has gone out this morning. Hope to god they don't cancel

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 23/12/2013 13:03

My advice is to get an over draft of £140 and hit the shops ASAP.

Freddiefrog · 23/12/2013 13:06

Asda did this to me on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago

No problem with the weather or anything, just cancelled it with no notice and without so much as an email. I had to ring them to find out what was going on

Fortunately, I'd already ordered my turkey from elsewhere and managed to get the basics from the local Co-Op

Never shopped with them again and have been wary about doing an online shop so close to Christmas since

It may not take too long to get the money back as long as they process the refund today, I had a refund back to my card yesterday and it's showing up as available in my account today

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 13:08

I think I'm mostly pissed off that they didn't even bother to tell me they'd cancelled it. Like I wouldn't notice.

What's wrong with them?

Been on phone to bank, they need authorisation codes from Asda apparently. This is ridiculous.

RooneyWanderingStara · 23/12/2013 13:10

How are they allowed to do that? Well, technically any supermarket probably can but Asda being Asda are only concerned with profit, and not with their customers' needs.

If you think about it it makes sense - they market themselves on being the cheapest, so they are telling us what they care about, and we need to listen and stop going there.

It took me ages to work that out. just now

Basically they are a shower of cuntastic arseholes and I am really sorry you're in this position.

Angry on your behalf. Don't bother going to the shop. They don't give a stuff and it won't do any good.

Hope you can get the stuff you needed xxx

IamInvisible · 23/12/2013 13:11

Their website says they take the money on the day of delivery. They should only do that if they are going to deliver imo.

itwillgetbettersoon · 23/12/2013 13:11

Tesco did that to me a couple of years ago - no apologies nothing. I don't do an online Xmas shop anymore as it is too stressful.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 23/12/2013 13:13

This is disgraceful. I think you should go to your local Asda and demand they give you the shopping that you no longer have the money for because of their rubbish system.

It might be worth going on their twitter account and saying what has happened. Terrible service and they should do what can to make it right.

RooneyWanderingStara · 23/12/2013 13:15

Ghoul, sorry to be a downer but if you've seen previous Asda payment/non delivery threads you'll know that they won't shift, because they are out and out bastards.

Sad

I'd advise waiting for the refund and NEVER shopping with them again. It is the only way.

AmberLeaf · 23/12/2013 13:15

Yes what IamInvisible said, they take your money when they process your order out of the depot, so how can they justify this?

I have been tempted a few times to order from them, then I remember the stories about this sort of thing Ive read on here and I think better of it.

How about Twitter shaming them?

TheGreatHunt · 23/12/2013 13:15

Waitrose have never done this to me. They are pretty cheap (not as cheap as asda, cheaper than sainsbos).

Can you twitter shame them? @asda?

Roshbegosh · 23/12/2013 13:16

What a disgrace, I had no idea they did that. I will never use them online or in store now. I do hope you can get funds together, and time and energy to shop. I am furious for you.

You must find the determination to have a good day no matter what you end up eating.

Fontofnowt · 23/12/2013 13:16

Tesco also did this to me when grocery shopping online was fairly new.
I ended up having a sit in with a grumpy toddler at the customer service desk of the store the order was charged from.
Eventually they gave me the shopping and paid cab fare each way but that was all.
