To think Asda shouldn't take all my money before Christmas and then not deliver my order?

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 12:50

Had an order for this morning, £140 of Christmas food. It never arrived, and it seems they've cancelled it. They didn't tell me, btw, it took an hour of chasing to find that out.

They've 'returned' my money but it will take up to three days to clear. Bit late then.

How are they allowed to do that?!

X-post Amber!

AmberLeaf · 23/12/2013 13:18

Great minds...@TheGreatHunt

Tesco did this to me once, but the weather was atrocious [snow] so I fair dos.

Scholes34 · 23/12/2013 13:18

Feeling smug. Did the Christmas shop at Tesco at 6.00 am today. Also feeling a bit jaded at the moment, but can look forward to putting my feet up later, safe in the knowledge that there is sherry in the fridge.

Tesco did the same to our vicar two years ago.

AmberLeaf · 23/12/2013 13:19

I think Id seriously consider a sit in at the local branch.

DeckTheHallsWithBoughsOfHorry · 23/12/2013 13:22

Atrocious behaviour. Must breach their Ts&Cs.

Makes me feel a fraction better about braving the actual physical supermarket this afternoon though.

Hope everyone manages to get what they need in good time.

Scholes34 · 23/12/2013 13:22

Or, fill up your trolley at a local branch and tell them you'll pay them once they've reimbursed your money, and you'll not even make them wait three days, because you're reasonable like that.

Bloodyteenagers · 23/12/2013 13:24

I would be doing a live Twitter feed from within the local store. No it's not ok that they are thieving shits who don't care that they are screwing with people. It's not even like it's a one off with these con artists.

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 13:26

We're lucky, we'll be ok - DP has just headed out to the shops to buy it all again.

But what if that was every penny we had?

And why didn't they think to TELL us?!??

Aaaaaaaaargh!!

ASDA do this often, there have been threads about this before.

This is why I did not trust them with an online shop for Christmas stuff, I went (elsewhere) myself. That and the short dates and weird substitutions.

ImAnElfJeSuisUneElf · 23/12/2013 13:36

We've used them for months, no real issues.

When I'm less ranty I'll email them, but I already 'merry bloody Christmas'-ed the lady on the phone and that's not very nice. Grin

OP - I'm glad that you can still get your shopping and I hope the refund is with you v soon. Asda do seem to be particularly shit online...

sashh · 23/12/2013 14:16

Second the twitter advice.

Hassled · 23/12/2013 14:44

Asda did this to me and they did back down after I went absolutely hissing-with-rage apeshit on the phone to them. In my case they'd over-charged me (by over £100) for 4 chicken breasts, and seemed to think 3-5 working days for a refund was completely reasonable.

Anyway, after my rant-fest I got the money back in my account the next day.

Glad you have food but you're right - what if that was the last money you had access to?

MincedMuffPies · 23/12/2013 15:04

Argh this thread made me double check my order and they have cancelled my order to! Although they haven't took my money. Am so so so so pissed off I spend around £100 a week every week there's always a problem with out of date food and late deliveries and now this. I'm fuming although least they didn't take my money!

WhereIsMyHat · 23/12/2013 15:07

That is really terrible. I've heard of similar happening before. I would Facebook/ twitter shame them too.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 23/12/2013 15:09

This is why I don't bother with an online Christmas shop. It seems to happen every year on MN.

Hope you manage to get everything sorted.

Golddigger · 23/12/2013 15:12

Asda is owned by Walmart, and are literally the biggest company in the whole world.
Not sure if that is at all relevant to anything, but I am always slightly wary of the biggest companies as they can afford to not be too fussy about customer care.

raisah · 23/12/2013 15:13

They did this to me last year and didn't deliver my dd's bday party food after promising to deliver for 2 days, they cancelled. It then took another 3 weeks to get my money back. I have never shopped with them again. They have form for this type of behaviour, it's not an isolated incident.

ouryve · 23/12/2013 15:17

There's threads about this happening every year and they way they go about it is just taking the pissXmas Angry

TeaAndSconesTwice · 23/12/2013 15:24

They did this to us, I think it's disgusting, they didn't tell us either I only found out because I called to see when our order was & was told it had been cancelled, no explanation why Confused

Haven't shopped with them since & never will again.

Glad you can still get your Christmas food op, it's the people who would not have the funds to do this which worries me.

ddubsgirl · 23/12/2013 15:25

ring the store the del will come from rather than the main number and speak to the home shopping dept

TheGinLushMinion · 23/12/2013 15:27

ASDA are complete & utter shite for online shopping, used them once & can definitely say never again...

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/12/2013 15:28

This happened to me too! Last year though.

E-mail the CEO. You won't get any sort of decent explanation from Customer Services.

I ended up with £100 in cash as an apology. It is worth pursuing.

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 23/12/2013 15:29

Angry on your behalf
I got my big asda shop delivered yesterday. The subbed items included smoked salmon, chipolatas, stuffing, bread sauce, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts and Christmas pud. Most of the subs were ok (think going from nice stuff to basics) but chipolatas subbed for cheese wrapped in bacon, and pork stuffing subbed for breadcrumbs! Also big chocolate pudding is use by today!!
Luckily dh went to sainsburys at 6am and replaced all the missing stuff. And we'll have to eat the chocolate pud tonight (couldn't get through on phone to complain)

That's the final straw for me with asda, will be changing to tesco from now on

MincedMuffPies · 23/12/2013 15:32

How to word the complaint email?
