to be annoyed at DH over wrapping paper?!

I bought a selection of wrapping paper for Christmas. Some snowman / Santa kid's stuff and others with my grown up designs. He's now gone and wrapped nice bottles of wine for relatives in kid's paper and all we have left for my toddler's pressies is green and gold Christmas bauble paper after I specifically asked him to do vice versa.
He thinks IABU and sweating the small stuff as 'Christmas wrapping paper is Christmas wrapping paper...?!'
He has previous.. A couple of years ago he gave his adult brother a glittery butterfly bday card from the generic greetings card stash I keep at home and couldn't understand why I found this strange!
Grrrrr!

I don't see the problem, DH wraps all the gifts and as long as i don't have to do it I really don't care.

DaddyPigsMistress · 23/12/2013 12:02

I xont think it matters. Its just paper, it will all be in a bin liner soon enough

It's done now, you'll have a picture perfect tree with nice wrapping paper if you can manage to arrange your toddler to pose before the ripping commences Smile

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 23/12/2013 12:03

I would be momentarily irritated and then forget it / laugh it off.

It's officially not too early for sherry now Wine

RomulanBattleBagel · 23/12/2013 12:04

I wrap everyone's paper in lovely shiny stuff, I no longer use kids stuff at all Blush

It all coordinates this year too, there's even ribbon :o

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2013 12:04

Chill. The toddler really, really won't care.

Freddiefrog · 23/12/2013 12:05

YANBU

I'm a bit obsessed with wrapping and have adult wrapping paper which I add ribbons and pretty things to so my presents look all posh

And kids paper for presents where the paper will be ripped off in 2 seconds flat without a backward glance

DH used my adult paper to wrap a load of selection boxes he bought for his Scouts for their Christmas party (he's a scout leader) and didn't understand my miffed-ness

But then I accept, I'm probably the strange one Grin

CaptainSweatPants · 23/12/2013 12:06

I understand op
If you're going to do a job do it properly Xmas Grin
I've deliberately hidden the 'father Xmas wrapping paper' because otherwise he'd wrap his parents tat up in it & ruin the Santa thingy bob

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 23/12/2013 12:06

I would be cross too. I know many on here would be a bit Hmm but I like my presents under the tree to be coordinated. I buy paper that compliments each other and matching ribbons and bows and tags and it looks lovely under the tree. I even hid the presents from other people at the back so as not to ruin the look Blush If only all aspects of my life were so organised and coordinated.

It took 10 minutes to get DH to shut up and wrap the right things in the right paper. Given his labelling is illegible this does matter.

Also, we have penguins and owls for the correct DDs

Topseyt · 23/12/2013 12:09

He is right. Wrapping paper is wrapping paper. I just buy cheap stuff and that gets used for everything. Same with the cards. Life is just too short to worry about things like that.

I never even notice the wrapping paper, if I am honest. Why bother getting het up about it?

WaitMonkey · 23/12/2013 12:14

This would annoy me.

harriet247 · 23/12/2013 12:17

Let it go, its sherry time!

limitedperiodonly · 23/12/2013 12:19

I understand completely.

It's important to me but I'm a cackhanded wrapper so DH usually does it. He works in retail so was taught to do it properly - we have double-sided sticky tape and ribbons and everything Grin

He would never make the mistake of wrapping children's presents in adult paper and vice versa.

I buy all the Christmas cards, including for his business. My taste tends towards cute animals. Every year he tells me to get snowy London street scenes with Seasons Greetings in them for him.

Yes, I know, dear. John Lewis sell a really tasteful selection of cards featuring 50s and 60s black and white photos of urchins snowballing Morris Minors and moody shots of Big Ben at midnight.

I'd never send them to my own friends though.

MyNameIsKenAdams · 23/12/2013 12:20

Meh.

Im particular about gift wrapping, so I do it myself rather than try to expect DH to care about my (frankly silly) wrap standards. He buys marvellous cards.

Play to your strengths.

Though my DH did once buy my DM a "Baileys for Lovers" gift set Grin by accident.

whattoWHO · 23/12/2013 12:21

I'd be mildly annoyed too.

I had words with DP yesterday because he wrapped DD(5)'s gifts in exactly the same paper as her gift from Father Christmas.

But then I remembered that I hate wrapping with a passion so maybe I should just grin and bear it.

JumpingJackSprat · 23/12/2013 12:24

Bloody hell I know some really really petty things that DH's have done "wrong" get posted here but this has to take the prize. Be thankful you have nothing more important to get your knickers in a twist about.

pictish · 23/12/2013 12:24

It's trivial and not worth getting worked up about.
However, I still would. It's the sort of thing that twists my melons!

Kill him. Grin

WaitingForMe · 23/12/2013 12:26

I'd be annoyed as each kid has their own paper then one for adults. Only adults get ribbons and tags. Keeps things simple overall.

DH used a variety of kids papers for my gifts. Which is great when you have a SN child who likes rules.

You'd almost think I did it for a reason.

To be fair DH is pretty embarrassed and feels like a dickhead since back in October I suggested the system to him and he thought it was great.

I know there are quite a few posters on this board who like to show off, demonstrating their domination over their adoring partners but your post made me cringe for you.

Patilla · 23/12/2013 12:31

It would annoy me as invariably the adult paper will be more expensive and the kids stuff will be in larger boxes which when opened will turn out to be filled with approximately 80% air and 20% toys

But I would get over it if it meant I had a DH who did the present wrapping to an acceptable standard

perplexedpirate · 23/12/2013 12:33

I'm shocked anew every time I realise that some people actually care about this stuff.
Why on earth does it matter?

Nibledbyducks · 23/12/2013 12:33

YANBU This year I have successfully managed the order the presents were wrapped in to avoid the horrible mismatch we normally have, (he of course thinks that I'm mad, but I'm not, honest, grumble, grumble).
