It was all designed to keep us under control,who the fck can smack their Dh upside of head wearing a 3 foot high wig FGS. Pointy shoes were designed to stop us running the fck away. All those petticoats,hoops,bones,bustles and lumpy bits in the skirts were to make it so difficult for anyone to get into our knickers( which we didnt actually have then ) that it wasnt worth the bother :o

Oh an enormous ruff is perfect for catching bits of chocolate/pastry when tucking into yuletide fodder.
