To think bronzer is out of date

I've noticed all the young trendies are getting paler and paler and I'm beginning to wonder about my penchant for bronzer. It is dated isn't it?

Good matte bronzer can work wonders. Shimmery, too dark, orange toned stuff doesn't flatter anybody.

scottishmummy · 22/12/2013 00:13

I swear to god I apply make up to look natural, funny innit
I love perfume and make up,i recommend les senteurs

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:15

SM that last thing sounds like a Harry Potter characer to me..

K8Middleton · 22/12/2013 00:18

I apply makeup so as to avoid scaring small children and anyone with a weak stomach. Proper caring me.

I am a bit Shock at calling a blusher deep throat. Now I know why all the beauty writers refer to it as "The Nars blusher". They can't publish anything else!

scottishmummy · 22/12/2013 00:23

I like the ritual and process of make up
I want to hurl when I see folk with scabby make up bags, joylessly poking and applying make up in public

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:24

I know K8 I checked over my shoulder to see if Germain Geer wasnt sitting there herself when I read that - see bloody MN fems have got me!

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:25

ROAR @ 'joyless poking' jesus Ive never ever seen that...

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/12/2013 00:28

K8

Nars are gleeful in their naming products inappropriately.

The text I sent to my mum asking if she could pick me up the Multiple Orgasm Stick in duty free took some composing, let me tell you!

squoosh · 22/12/2013 00:29

Deep Throat could be called 'Nasty Attack of the Clap' and I'd still buy it, I love it so much.

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:37

I feel Ive just been educated a little bit and feel a littel bit old

K8Middleton · 22/12/2013 00:38

Ha! I put it the orgasm one on my Pinterest board and my mother found it (god knows how, they get the Yellow Pages out to find the name of a plumber to Google). Funnily enough she didn't get me that for Christmas Grin

K8Middleton · 22/12/2013 00:41

Now I'm thinking maybe I've got the wrong Nars blusher. Should I be wearing Deep Throat on my cheeks and not Orgasm?

Roll on the Space NK sale...

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/12/2013 00:47

I have an enduring love for Orgasm (don't we all) but use it more as a highlighter than a blusher. I've had the liquid and cream forms.

Super Orgasm is excellent as a powder blusher, works for summer and winter.

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:58

Im going to buy it and wear it excessively just so when im out n about I can say 'I have orgasm all over my cheeks darling' - like that big fat nude character off little Briton

monkeynuts123 · 22/12/2013 06:20

I've just watched that clip and there's not enough space on my face for all that contouring!! Does anyone in rl do that? I have sort of olive/pale skin and I'm using this www.escentual.com/dior/diormakeup103/?gclid=CNfT7NuXw7sCFTDMtAodTyEAxQ

It's not shimmery and I use it fairly sparingly. I hate pink and can't bring myself to use 'blusher' if I can't do contouring or pink blusher then surely that only leaves something a bit er, well bronze.

That made me Grin

Coumarin · 23/12/2013 02:23

Yy to Bobbi Brown pale pink Scottishmummy Looks shockingly bright in the pot, but is perfect for us pale ones.

I would look beyond stupid with all that contouring marlarky. My face is too small for a start. Where would it all go. Confused

woodlandwanderwoman · 23/12/2013 02:53

Marking thread for a duty free trip Grin

Itwasntmeanttobelikethis · 23/12/2013 06:13

Thought this was AIBU not style and beauty Confused

Firstly Wtf is contouring?

Secondly, if I don't wear some kind of bronzer I'm see-through. I can't cope with makeup trends - at nearly 40 I've just perfected the foundation-without-looking like you've put your face into the makeup look along with mascara and tiny amount of bronzer.

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 23/12/2013 08:17

YANBU.

MincedMuffPies · 23/12/2013 08:35

I stopped wearing bronzed a few years ago, wear a pink blusher now. But then I'm not fake tanned anymore I'm pale and my colouring is like Nicole Kidmans.

WinterWinds · 23/12/2013 10:17

If I don't wear bronzer I look a deathly shade of grey!!

I am not naturally pale but my face for some reason is a totally different colour to the rest of me.
I just give myself a light dusting over my foundation to warm me up and match the rest of me.

My DD was with me once whilst I started to do my make up and asked " Why do you wear make up mum? You don't need it, you look fine without it."
She stayed with me until i'd finished and proclaimed at the end,
"Oh, I take that back, You do actually need make up don't you?" Grin

Bedtime1 · 23/12/2013 10:24

Try hoola bronzer by benefit that's fab particularly if you are paler. You can dust it on very lightly . Nars Lugana I have that too but it is a bit darker than hoola, I also have fake bake for if I'm going on big night out and dark, I have mac golden bronzer too that's More like nars laguna. Say a more medium ish coverage.

AlaskaNebraska · 23/12/2013 10:24

nars laguna

Bedtime1 · 23/12/2013 10:28

If you don't want to use bronzer. Mac natural skin finish is good dusted over foundation. Always apply your blusher though. The mac natural skin finish comes in light , medium, medium dark , dark . I think there might be others. I use medium.
