To think bronzer is out of date

I've noticed all the young trendies are getting paler and paler and I'm beginning to wonder about my penchant for bronzer. It is dated isn't it?

dandelion's eh

runningonwillpower · 21/12/2013 22:09

I have just fucking-well discovered bronzer.

I must have been at the back of the queue when girl-knowledge was handed out.

InTheRedCorner · 21/12/2013 22:10

I'm with Lego on this one.

bebbeau · 21/12/2013 22:39

yeah i have noticed the young trendy 'uns seem to be getting paler

and ooh dear CJZ on that picture Shock

RevoltInParadise · 21/12/2013 22:40

Re that link... Who has time to do that every morning??

stgeorgiaandthedragon · 21/12/2013 22:44

This makes me nostalgic for bygone makeup trends - heather shimmer lipstick, anyone??

ShylaMcClaus · 21/12/2013 22:50

My teenage DD has the time to do that in the morning. At the expense of trivial things such as, erm, eating some breakfast perhaps. I have no sympathy when I get a call from Medical saying she "feels faint".

I lived in Heather Shimmer and Black Cherry as I got older. Miners did a good peach colour in the early eighties - prawn something? It was the Mandy Smith look.

bebbeau · 21/12/2013 23:03

stgeorgia i have some heather shimmer lipstick!! they re released it a while back.

i dont look as good in it as i did at 17 :(

lookatmybutt · 21/12/2013 23:13

You can also do some proper mad theatrical contouring to make you look like someone completely different:

ashamedoverthinker · 21/12/2013 23:14

Green eyeliner.....

yes i was next to runnin in the Q - i mean I never think to look at this stuff or think about it that much...I think I do ok, but cant say im on trend. I never know about make up brands other than No7.

I have been wearing more make up during the week days to please myself ( I cant go without brow pencil now) and this is all thanks to a M thread last new year. I have made such a big effort to get out of jeans a much.

I feel rebellious. this makes my head spin.

SomethingOnce · 21/12/2013 23:35

I find it a bit depressing to see women piling on the slap like in that Michelle Phan video. So much effort just to end up looking so... odd.

CiderBomb · 21/12/2013 23:40

Fake tan and the like are definitely going out of fashion. I'm pale and proud to be, I've never done the whole fake tan thing because I can't be arsed. I can remember a couple of years ago going to a party and when I looked at the photos afterwards I looked like a milk bottle. I was so pale next to everyone else.

I've noticed people don't seem to use it as much now. Not surprising when it stinks, is messy and time consuming to put on and nearly always looks awful.

squoosh · 21/12/2013 23:45

I used to be a fake tan fan, for about ten years in total. I've been in recovery for three years, and now actively love being pale.

Would never have thought that possible at the heady heights of my tan habit!

I also love that embracing my pale is so much less labour intensive.

scottishmummy · 21/12/2013 23:47

I've never piled on make up,I go to big effort to look minimal

ShylaMcClaus · 21/12/2013 23:54

Pacific Prawn! That's the lipstick I was thinking of. As worn by the Wham girls and perfect for thirteen year olds who wished to captivate George Michael in that music video where they are all skiing and he gives the be-permed old lady a diamante brooch in front of a roaring fire as his poet's sleeves billow out. Not camp at all, oh no.

K8Middleton · 21/12/2013 23:55

It's fine. In the summer.

Otherwise get some good blusher. The beauty columnists rave about Nars in orgasm, but really Boujois is good too. I have one that makes people ask if I've lost weight. I haven't.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/12/2013 00:02

Depends on how you wear it I think.

I'm very pale, always will be so bronzer has never features heavily. However at this time of year in particular, pale becomes "deathly pallor".

Currently using the Nars Multiple Orgasm stick as a highlighter and benefit dandelion blusher. Healthy natural looking glow.

scottishmummy · 22/12/2013 00:04

Best blusher, dandelion or Bobbi brown pale pink

ShylaMcClaus · 22/12/2013 00:05

K8 it did it again. What was it supposed to say?

squoosh · 22/12/2013 00:06

Nars Deep Throat is ultra flattering, it's a natural peachy/pink with zero shimmer.

K8Middleton · 22/12/2013 00:06

No, that's right. It added an exclamation mark. A bit presumptuous if you ask me Grin

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:08

Someties I think I want to live with SM - just for a week mind. I think I'd be kicked in to touch by then. arf arf

ashamedoverthinker · 22/12/2013 00:09

'deep throat' wtf?

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/12/2013 00:09

look

That video is amazing!

ShylaMcClaus · 22/12/2013 00:11

Explicit cosmetics? I had no idea.
