To be feeling sorry for myself

Eminybob · 21/12/2013 19:40

I'm fed up.

Im 8 weeks pg and suffering.

So so tired I can't tell you. I've not left the house or even gotten out of my pjs today as I just don't have the energy.

I couldn't eat the tea I cooked for myself as the sickness is putting me off everything.

I have the sniffles as just had the flu jab, and only just got over a hideous cold from last week.

The worst bit is DP is out with our friends having Christmas drinks which even if I'd had the energy to go to I would have been bored watching them all drink, plus fending off questions as to why I'm not as they don't know yet.

Laid on sofa watching telly drinking water and eating the Xmas roses as they're all I can keep down.

SadSadSad

Sorry just wanted a moan. Thanks for reading

Imagine feeling like that and having older children to look after, now that really is hard work!

Eminybob · 21/12/2013 19:45

Good point I think I'll stop at one!

Eight weeks in is horrible; I felt like death at that stage. You're entitled to have a moan.

Stuff your face and watch Harry Potter!

Salmotrutta · 21/12/2013 19:48

First trimester is very tiring and vomitous OP.

Hopefully will wear off soon.

rainbow26 · 21/12/2013 19:49

I found out I was pregnant at the start of the summer holidays. I spent practically the whole time lying on the sofa. It was hideous. Going back to work was awful. I cried one morning because I was just so bone-crushingly tired.

It's the worst bit. Accept it, lie back and scoff the choc. You'll be back to normal in about 2 years! Wink Grin

TodayIsAGoodDay · 21/12/2013 20:51

I know what you're going through op. Just the sight or even the thought of any green veg was enough to make me sick. Why do people always talk about food cravings in pregnancy when, actually, it's food aversions that are the worst thing.
Try and relax, the 'golden trimester' is not far off!

PixieBumbles · 21/12/2013 20:58

YANBU. I was an absolute wreck at 8 weeks. 21 weeks now and trust me, it does get better!

Tulip26 · 21/12/2013 21:00

Are you taking extra vitamins? I found them a massive help when I was so tired I could have hibernated.

MadameDefarge · 21/12/2013 21:00

I feel your pain.

I spent the millennium night on a sofa, 14 weeks pregnant, with the hideous flu all alone.

ExP had shown his colours by fleeing to another continent upon the news of the baby.

DS is heaven and worth every lousy moment to get him.

steff13 · 21/12/2013 21:01

You poor thing! You won't believe how much better you'll begin to feel in just a few short weeks. Have a nice nap and just take care of yourself.

Voerendaal · 21/12/2013 21:02

YABU. Many people can't have children and would give their right arm to feel like you do. I am lucky to have one DD but cannot have any more. Wish I was pg and felt like you.

dietcokeandwine · 21/12/2013 21:03

Oh bless you. First trimester is pretty grim. Sick as a pig and tiredness like you've been hit with a sandbag!

Hopefully you'll start to feel much better soon but in the meantime whinge away (and get some BBQ beef hula hoops in - each of my 3 were almost entirely sustained by BBQ beef hula hoops during their first trimesters!)

pictish · 21/12/2013 21:08

I found the first trimester the hardest part of being pregnant, every time. The sickness and exhaustion just floored me. I felt dreadful.

You have my sympathies OP. It will (most likely) pass by the time you're about four months in.

For some reason, strong tea with no sugar helped me through it. x

MadameDefarge · 21/12/2013 21:08

voerendaal, what an unpleasant and sanctimonious post.

I am of course sorry you can't have any more children (neither can I) but why your feelings trump that of someone else I do not get.

Pregnancy can be a miserable experience. Try having SPD, or hyperemesis, let alone the plain old nastiness of utter exhaustion and morning sickness.

Think you need a course in empathy before putting your size sixes in it.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 21/12/2013 21:09

I'm 6 weeks and hula hoops are my friend!

pictish · 21/12/2013 21:10

Unnecessary Voerendaal.

Eminybob · 21/12/2013 21:23

Voerendaal I don't know if I can have children yet my last pg ended in miscarriage and believe me I'm counting my blessing for getting this far.
Just wallowing in a bit of self pity about feeling so rubbish but I am very aware of how lucky I will be to have my baby in my arms.
Thank you everyone else for your kind words.

Ugh remember that feeling well, the tiredness is just awful. I found sipping lucazade stemmed the vomiting slightly. Hope you feel better soon and the rest of your pregnancy goes well. I felt amazing after 20 weeks with ds1.

Valdeeves · 21/12/2013 21:32

I really struggled at 8 weeks too - my second pregnancy was the hardest - every day by 10 am I was desperate to go back to bed but I couldn't as I had a two year old! Just think in one month you'll feel sooo much better xxx

Taz1212 · 21/12/2013 21:33

The first trimester was dire for me both times. Every night I would think, "thank God it's 9:00 and I can go to bed." Some nights I'd be crawling to bed at 8. Blush It will get better.

NumNumChristmasPudInMyTum · 21/12/2013 21:35

Horrid isn't it. Hopefully it will pass quickly. Bland food helps and in particular I found rice cakes stayed down best.
