London ice rinks

I want to book for dd to go ice skating with some friends over the holidays.

I tried Somerset House but they are booked on the day we want to do.

Can anyone recommend somewhere?

There's a rink at the Tower of London which is a lovely setting - but it seemed very expensive to me. Having said that, I shouldn't imagine that it'd cost any more than Somerset House would have done.

I went to the Natural History Museum rink last yr - was lovely, v beautiful.

Yes I thought about the Natural History museum.

Think there is also one near the London Eye...?

Yes, the London Eye (Eyeskate) is great in terms of the location/setting + it's beautiful (lit up etc) but it didn't look that big to me.

When I went to the NHM, they actually had 2 rinks, one was used by v small children and real beginners and the other for everyone else. It made it much more bearable.

My grown-up DD and her friends from her skating circle went to The Icerink at Canary Wharf as many of the others were booked up well in advance.

They had a really wonderful time. The ice there is supposed to be very good and it has a 'lantern-lit walkway' to skate along which leaves the main rink and doubles back to it. They would recommend it and in fact are planning to go back.
