So, we've just finished redecorating the lounge in time for Christmas, but haven't yet had any Christmas visitors - that all starts next week.

Mil came to babysit for us yesterday and when we returned she casually mentioned that she had invited sil over while we were out.

Immediately I thought 'oh, I would have liked to see her first reaction to our new lounge, Christmas tree etc'.

This probably showed on my face because mil asked if I minded. Of course I said no (damn it!!) and just asked what sil had thought of things.

Dh thinks I'm being daft but I've spent ages choosing colours, furniture etc and putting it all together. Part of enjoying it for me is seeing it finished and watching our friends' and families' faces when they first see it.

It's our first Christmas in this house. I think she should have realised I might be put out. Aibu?

Oh that will be it thebodytalks. She will have invited her round so she could discreetly vom into a paper bag and therefore not hurt my (precious) feelings. Bless.

Oh god, do people watch to see my reaction to their decorating? is this one of those things that doesnt happen in real life?

TheListingAttic · 20/12/2013 14:32

It may amuse you to know that our fairy has her completely bare arse on display though.

Okay, despite agreeing with most of the previous responses, I think I would have wanted to see how people reacted to that one...

HunterWellies · 20/12/2013 14:32

Nothing from your list givemeaclue. I've been around here for long enough to know better.

I'm sorry lunar but I reckon they do. Some people anyway not me honest

Thanks for the yabus. I get it.

What's the deal with your bare arsed fairy? Grin

givemeaclue · 20/12/2013 14:33

Post pics and we will ooh over it for you

Ifcatshadthumbs · 20/12/2013 14:36

If you've been around long enough you will know that even though you have conceded YABU you must still be bashed and flamed by posters who only read the OP for atleast another 20 posts.

So remain in the brace position.

HunterWellies · 20/12/2013 14:37

Harold she is an heirloom. Her bottom has been bare since the 1970s. I can't be arsed to post a pic but in a vair strange and massive mn coincidence, NormanTheForeman has the exact same fairy, and he has posted a pic, if you're very keen to perv over plastic buttcheeks :o

HunterWellies · 20/12/2013 14:53

OP posts:
HaroldTheGoat · 20/12/2013 14:55

Maybe you could fuck with their minds by changing it all around over the weekend.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 20/12/2013 14:56

Grips aren't given out so freely now everyone's on the "first world problem sneer" band wagon.

AWimbaWay · 20/12/2013 14:57

Am I the only one that actually does like looking at people's newly decorated houses? I really want to see pictures of your lounge now HunterWellies. [nosey cow smiley]

Ifcatshadthumbs · 20/12/2013 14:58

Whilst we're confessing to be precious when ds1 was born I wouldn't let my SIL push the pram because I didn't want people to think he was hers. I thought he was THE most gorgeous baby born and I wanted all the glory Blush

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 20/12/2013 15:01

YABU but it is off to invite someone else round to the house you're babysitting in, so your MIL was BU for that.

I'm sure he was the most scrumptious baby on the planet cat. Wouldn't you have been annoyed if your mil had showed him off to sil before you got the chance?
