to be pissed off with my "day off" ending up like this?

was supposed to be DS at school, DD at CM so I could wrap all the presents, get any left over bits, assemble things that need assembling etc and generally just have the one day between me finishing work and the kids being home to sort things out. Instead, after spending most of yesterday evening scrubbing sick out of the carpet (tips anyone?) I am home with a now recovered DS and DD (CM also sick). Feel Sad for the poorly people, but so pissed off that I can't do all the above, plus I, DH and DD will almost certainly get it now too. Also lost the one lie in I was going to get this holiday, and I have a sore throat and a huge zit. So, just generally a rant really....WIBU to stay in PJs, drink gallons of tea and let the DCs watch TV for a large part of the day?

No, cbeebies is excellent for when kids are ill. And lots of tea for you, do it.

SomePeopleNeedHelp · 19/12/2013 08:48

YANBU, always lots of tv when everyone is ill.

Bicarb is supposed to good to get sick smell out. I think you just sprinkle on and hoover after a bit.

I feel for you, this happened to me a few months ago, had a lovely "me" day planned as dd was supposed to be at nursery, but she was ill so I ended up spending most of it cleaning up sick! Absolutely not unreasonable, tea and chocolate/biscuits for you, and tv for the kids!

meganorks · 19/12/2013 08:54

Tea and telly sounds perfect. Just relax with the kids - wrapping isn't exactly fun is it! I would say you need some cake invthis equation too though.

Hope you don't get ill and have a very merry Christmas.

CremeEggThief · 19/12/2013 08:58

Of course not! Some chocolate or biscuits to accompany that tea too! Smile

Hope the DC feel better soon.

BlackeyedShepherdswatchsheep · 19/12/2013 10:43

a huge zit and you have not sounded the klaxon?

sorry. sick from carpets. antibac spray seems to work on cleaning once you have got out the gunk. if there is still a smell when dry, bicarb of soda sprinkled on nd then hooverered out.

I hve been mopping up sick too. so far ds did not catch it from dd.

telly is good.

thanks all - am trying not to be radgy with the kids whilst trying to get some of the things planned for today done. I'll try the bicarb trick x

I had a plan to get the house cleaned today in readiness for the big day and instead I am curled up on the sofa having been up all night throwing up. Dh couldn't even get the kids ready for school and I desperately don't want them being ill!

I am sorry your plans had to be changed and hope that you all feel better soon.

Make sure you get vast quantities of soda bi carbonate in if you think the rest of your family are going to come down with it. make a solution of the soda bi carb and sponge onto carpet after clearing any sick off it and let the soda bi carb solution dry before hoovering it up.
