To want to go online and post bad reviews about ASDA

Placed an order a week ago and Asda left out 2 items worth £16 which is fair enough however I have called them 5 times since and no one has got back to me. I keep getting fobbed off when I call and I am now fed up and want to go on facebook and have a good rant on their page, if they've got one.

Well go on then - they might take some notice of you if you "go public" so to speak Grin give em what for - if nothing else you might feel better for getting it off your chest, and it just might spur them to action.

I'd never had a problem with asda till my last shop arrived an hour late with stuff missing I emailed and a week later still haven't had a reply but they have shoved a £5 voucher on my account.

Of course you should complain. Never had a problem with them myself.

In fact, my definition of utter joy, is when I do the price guarantee check on my receipts and it always says they were the cheapest, but not by 10% and give me a stinking big money off voucher. My life really is that rock and roll!

Bearing in mind how many threads there have been on here about how crap their delivery service is - you'd have thought they would be trying to buck up a bit.

I guess so many people are seduced by the fact that they are supposedly cheaper they still dont feel they need to give a toss.

I had an issue with a local company who had f*cked up work they had done for me so I left them a message on their facebook page - it helped motivate them to sort it out Grin

Keep on calling. Had the same thing with them, only I picked my order up from the store. 4 things missing. Called abd called. They refunded in the end. From now on, I'll be having any orders delivered to the store and check the bags on spot.

Hadn't realised their delivery was rubbish as I'd never had any problem with them. I find it unacceptable that I have to keep chasing them to get my money back.

OP - Honestly - what do you expect?

It's ASDA (the UK name for WalMart) and they care not a jot for you.
You are a cash cow to them (like all of their customers) and while you think you might be important to them - you are NOT because they keep on telling the whole world they are CHEAP - and that is exactly what they are. If you stop shopping there they won't care (unless we all do it)...

Cheap meat from Romania, cheap grain from Russia to make the bread (which feels like it might float upward if you don't tie it down), cheap bags which break before you've made it to the car, cheap Polish milk, cheap "fresh" fish which is always three days old and NEVER, EVER sourced from British fleets, cheap staff who have to "qualify" for minimum wage, cheap T-Shirts which are made by VERY cheap labour in Pakistani factories (we all know those stories and they're all true...)

So what do you expect when you give this company, this global conglomerate your money? Do you expect that they will treat you as someone they care about - they DON'T care about you - and they never will. It's not Fortnums and it's not your local butcher / baker or grocer. They have ZERO investment in you as a loyal customer and that is how that model works.

You will never get "service" from a conglomerate who views you as a digit, a factor, a unit. Asda is just the UK face of WalMart who will always put on sale and provide the cheapest, lowest grade, worst possible goods they can con you into buying for sixpence less than any competitor.

Is it a grocery delivery or other items? Because if it was a grocery delivery then you shouldn't have been charged for them in the first place as they check out the shopping you are actually delivered, not the order you placed.

I don't understand why they charge you before they actually know what they're going to deliver to you. Ocado doesn't charge until you've actually received the goods. And, if you stick to basics and branded goods, I really don't think they are much more expensive. Certainly compared to tescos since they price match with them. Not sure about Asda.

Minimonty, that made me laugh and I agree completely with all you've said but surely they should be able to give me back my money when they are unable to provide me with what I've ordered.

I work at ASDA. I get above minimum wage, and you don't have to "qualify" for it (whatever that's supposed to mean). You go in, have a group interview. If they like you, you get a one-to-one interview, and if you do well there, you get a job.

The job comes with with a 3 month probation period but I've never known anyone not to last. I've seen at least six people come through our department in the last 2 years and they've all been offered permanent positions after their probation period has ended. Lots of jobs have this, it's not unique to ASDA.

As for your fresh fish comment, it's "fresh" as opposed to pre-packed. You can, to an extent, pick the pieces you want, pick the weight etc. A lot of it is British/Scottish, too.

Though of course, it's easy to bitch when you don't know all the facts.

OP, go on their Facebook and complain. Like all stores, we're overwhelmed at the moment with the Christmas rush. People complaining over £16 of items missing probably won't even register at the moment. If that doesn't work, write to Andy Clarke, the CEO.

I work at asda and it pays wells I suggest you call tje store the del came from rather than the number on the paperwork! as for the fish comment I work on counters and fish comes in everyday fresh

I went to ASDA a few weeks ago and did a 'big' shop which included alcohol - on arrival at the till I realised I had left my purse at home so asked my son (17) to use his card to pay - this led to HUGE issues as this would mean he was buying alcohol underage. I explained to the cashier that obviously he wasn't buying it I was and that he was simply using his card, which is linked to my card, which is linked to my husband's card which means he is actually paying and yes he is definitely over 25. I suggested she just let him pay and all would be well I am with him blah blah but she said no as she was being watched and 'they' would know. So we left. Not been back, not going back. While I know there is a problem with under age drinking in this country, this is bureaucracy gone mad. The alcohol (two bottles of wine) was obviously part of a household shop. This country drives me mad with it's ridiculousness and the jobsworths who uphold those ridiculousnesses.

desertmum it's because it's illegal. It doesn't matter that you're there or that the card is linked to your husbands bank account. Your son is 17 and the finalising the purchase by entering his pine code.

We can't sell to someone who is under 18. We can lose our jobs. At best, we get a formal warning and a fine is sent to both us and the store. Yes, we personally have to pay if we sell to someone who is under 18. At worst, we can get suspended and/or fired, and if it happens repeatedly, the store can lose its license to sell alcohol.

We're not jobsworths. We're people with a family to support and bills and rent to pay. If your job etc. was on the line, you'd stick to the rules too!

Sorry desertmum, but I would have refused you as well. It's not jobsworthy-Ness and cashiers don't do it to be deliberately annoying. It just isn't worth our jobs to be caught serving under age, and if your son was paying on his card then that's serving under age.

It's coming up to Christmas and there are lots of 'tests' being conducted at the moment, both internally by companies and externally by the police/trading standards.

If I fail a test conducted internally and don't ask for ID/serve someone under age I will get a automatic disiplinary. If I fail this twice in 6 months, there's every chance I will be fired.

If I fail an external test I will be handed a fixed £90 penalty fine and could be taken to court. If I went to court I could find myself with a £5000 fine or 6 month prison sentence, my company could be fined up to £20,000 and they could lose their license. Which could mean the shop would close down. And I would lose my job.

Not all tests are just a teenager going to the till with a bottle of lambrini. Our shop has had scenario tests similar to what happened to you and your son.

It isn't the end of the world to get the wine taken off your shopping and nip to the local offy later to buy them. Please don't assume the woman/man behind the counter was being deliberately difficult. It might seem like a lack of common sense, but unfortunately the law doesn't take these incidents which are outside of the norm into account; they fall within the laws we have in place.Going against the grain and relying on 'common sense' isn't worth 5 grand. Especially when you're on a zero hours contract and that's about what I earn in a whole year. I'd rather just do my job as i'm told.

The bag policy is crap not only do they make them so flimsy that they usually split but they ration bags too I had a basketful of food the cashier felt I only needed three bags I felt I needed more in view of there crapness but she would nt give me any so I told he I did not have to shop there left all my food on her checkout and went to Tesco where they gave me as many bags as I needed.

i might have to complain to my asda.
i shop there around 7 pm ish and they have horrible loud music. and their shelf stackers leave their huge trolleys in the way of the goods i want to buy.
the checkout operators are on the whole lovely, actually they ARE lovely. it is a small asda.

of course i understand that no-one wants to lose their jobs and thus follow the rules, i still think the rules are ridiculous, If it had been merely a couple of bottles of wine I could understand it but it was a huge shop. Anyway it is what it is.

I used to work for ASDA (at their head office.) MiniMonty is right - they are owned by a vile company with appalling employment policies (esp. in the US) and frankly they make Tesco look like saints.

I stupidly bought a delivery pass with asda a while ago but was so fed up of constantly having to chase up refunds of items they either hadn't delivered or that I'd sent back as they were ridiculous subs that I've gone bk to Tesco. The final straw was waiting two weeks and 7 emails for a refund- oh and baby milk being bagged up with bleach Shock
