I'm watching the BBC2 re-runs and I'm surprised about how relevant it is?

Ohh is it on? I'm tuning in. I don't know if it was ahead of it's time but I truly heart Tyne Daly, she's amazing.

thebody · 16/12/2013 14:43

loved it.

best bit was the theme tune though.

HOIV!!! (That's Harvey, natch). Used to love this, thought it & everyone in it was brilliant.

Chippednailvarnish · 16/12/2013 14:46

Problems of working parents, racism, sexism, dating. I've never seen it before and I'm really enjoying it. [Sado]

Very refreshing. How many tv shows do you see now with two strong lead women?? ( you're gonna name loads now aren't you!)

Chippednailvarnish · 16/12/2013 14:54

Most TV cop shows featuring female leads are just mere copies!

Ah I bloody love C&L, had no idea it was on BBC

lookatmybutt · 16/12/2013 16:00

I was watching repeats of it quite recently and agree that it's aged really well, it's still relevant and the characters are great as well as the acting. I don't think many more modern shows write female characters half as well and they often seem like they're just checking off a series of tick boxes.

It's a bloody awesome show!

It's been on for about a month now, I have completely managed to hook DD (16) with it as well. We get home from school, have a cuppa and settle to watch it. It's been great.

NewtRipley · 16/12/2013 17:33

I loved it when it was on first time round.

What's the one with Suranne Jones and Leslie Whatsername? That's excellent. Women writer, producer, director

^ That was to I'msorry

My mum is the absolute double of Tyne Daly - then & now Smile .

She loved Cagney & Lacey, I used to watch it with her & she would have used it as a starting point to talk about issues - much to my then complete mortification Smile

NewtRipley · 16/12/2013 18:04

I loved the relationship between Lacey and her DH

Chippednailvarnish · 16/12/2013 20:34

I was even more impressed to read that when they released a few hour long specials a number of years after they stopped making the show, they called them "Cagney and Lacey, The Menopause Years"
