I forgot something from the online shop so went to the local supermarket quickly, it was literally one item so it was 'charge in, charge out'.

I was headed towards the self service area and as I went to one checkout I heard the woman at the next checkout say (REALLY loudly!) "No, she's not coming here!" I glanced up and she was talking to a girl in a Brownie uniform.

The monologue continued as I put the items in (I decided to buy some Christmas chocs as well!) "No, I thought she were coming here, but she's not, she's gone to that one. She's putting it through. I thought she was coming here ..."

I did look up questioningly twice as honestly the woman was REALLY loud, I couldn't not have heard!

I went away a bit huffy - felt like I'd been "told off" for getting the Brownie's hopes up and I didn't really like being spoken about as if I wasn't there.

AIBU? Go on, flame me! Grin

I don't really understand?

Was the Brownie packing bags or something?

spikyhedgehogprickles · 15/12/2013 14:52

Yeah, sorry, I should have said that. They were at the manned checkouts but not the self service area, which I didn't notice although in fairness I don't think I would have changed my destination even if I had Blush

Confused flame you for what? Your post makes no sense! What's the point in your post Op?

spikyhedgehogprickles · 15/12/2013 14:55

Blimey - am I being unreasonable for being made to feel bad for not going to someone's checkout, and am I being unreasonable for thinking it's rude to speak loudly about somebody in the third person?

Confused yourself!

OP posts:
LittlePeaPod · 15/12/2013 14:58

In that case both points are non issues. They could have been speaking to/about someone else.

RedPencilPot · 15/12/2013 14:58

YABU and very touchy!

Lj8893 · 15/12/2013 14:58

I don't understand it either, sorry OP!

DaddyPigsMistress · 15/12/2013 15:01

They wernt rude, they were children speaking loudly and coukd of been about someone else, no offence made

You are rude though.

spikyhedgehogprickles · 15/12/2013 15:02

Little - they weren't. No one else around.

Lj it's fine. All that happened was that I went to the self service checkout. The manned checkouts had Brownies packing bags and the woman at the checkout had a one way conversation with 'her' Brownie at deafening levels about how she thought I was coming to her, but I hadn't.

I did say it was slightly annoying not that I went home crying!

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 15/12/2013 15:02

Ok I understand it now and YABU to give it a second thought

Or even a first thought Xmas Grin

spikyhedgehogprickles · 15/12/2013 15:03

No, they weren't children :) it was the checkout lady having a one way conversation with her Brownie.

No one else around - self service checkouts and '10 items or less' were dead but the other tills were busy but at the further end of the store, that's how I know it was about me.

OP posts:
spikyhedgehogprickles · 15/12/2013 15:03

Fair enough Worra

Xmas Grin backatya.

OP posts:
Lj8893 · 15/12/2013 15:10

Ok I understand now, but yeah it's really a non-issue.

LittlePeaPod · 15/12/2013 15:11

Total mountain out of a mole hill Op. YABU for starting an AIBU thread about it. I am with Worra. Grin

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage · 15/12/2013 15:11

I understood your OP OP as it was obvious.

Take no notice. The Brownie probably didn't care and the woman was annoyed as they are packing to raise money and she obviously wants to raise as much as possible.

JodieGarberJacob · 15/12/2013 15:12

But when I realised what had happened I'd have called over 'oops sorry, didn't realise!' and walked out and thought no more about it.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 15/12/2013 15:14

hic! I have no idea if YABU or not, OP, I don't understand you post. It leads me to believe you've been at the Christmas Cheer already. Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 15/12/2013 15:14

Ahh... and now I see you later posts it makes sense.

(hasn't been at the Christmas Cheer at all)

LittlePeaPod · 15/12/2013 15:15

BabyMummy29 · 15/12/2013 15:19

Who cares what checkout anyone goes to - you poast was rambling and made no sense.

Is it compulsory to use the checkouts that have charity bag packers?

PuppyMonkey · 15/12/2013 15:20

Blimey, I still don't understand what happened but Merry Christmas everyone. GrinConfused

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage · 15/12/2013 16:12

Why does no one understand?

Brownie and Adult waiting to pack bags.
Sees OP. Brownie Adult assumes OP will come to their till. Makes big show when she doesn't.
OP wonders if she did anything wrong. She didn't.

PuppyMonkey · 15/12/2013 16:16

And that's a thread is it? Grin

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage · 15/12/2013 16:24

If someone wants to post about it, then yes. There plenty of threads posted where you wouldn't talk about the subject in real life but people want to chat on line about it. There are no thread police thankfully.

Tiredemma · 15/12/2013 16:29
Blush

I thought you meant that lady was talking to a chocolate brownie
