To feel pissed off my period is back ( the crimson bastard)

I EBF day and night, co-sleep and use a sling about a third of our trips out. I thought this was meant to stop the return of periods post birth yet Ds is only 6 months and I've got my third pyramid already.

Anyone else?

Mine returned at 6 months. How does your baby sleep? I read that if they sleep well at night ( as my ds does) your cycle is likely to come back quicker.

formerbabe · 15/12/2013 12:32

Why would co-sleeping and using a sling affect your periods?

Bumpandkind · 15/12/2013 12:42

According to research on the Kelly Mom website and in some books I've read these help delay it. Can't remember why though. He wake in the night for milk too.

YANBU. I would feel cheated also. DS is 14 months and no return of AF as yet. Mind you, I am still feeding him at least 4 times in every 24 hours, I think I'd be happy to exchange a good nights sleep for my periods now Confused

My older DD was 14 months when my periods returned and then I got pregnant with DS a couple of months later, so I've had 2 periods in 4 years (and counting!) Almost considering having another child, just to save money on the tampons Wink

I'm no help here, just laughing at the term 'the crimson bastard'... I'm going to pinch that, Bumpandkind, it's fab! Grin

Though I would love to know how to stop periods... forever, without a hysterectomy.

WelshMaenad · 15/12/2013 14:40

YANBU. Mine came back exactly four weeks after I started both mine on solids though. Fucking sucked.

EmmaBemma · 15/12/2013 15:00

just posting to say "the crimson bastard" is my new favourite euphemism for menstruation. Brilliant.

AlpacaPicnic · 15/12/2013 15:09

I've just laughed myself silly at 'crimson bastard' and a room full of teenage boys are looking at me quizzically...

AIBU not to tell them why I'm giggling?!

prettybutclumpy · 15/12/2013 15:15

I have a Mirena coil and haven't had any problems, and no bleeding!

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 15/12/2013 15:17

I ebf my son and my periods didn't stop at all, now I feel cheated.

Showy · 15/12/2013 15:19

DD fed round the clock. At least two hourly for the first 7 months. No dummies, feeds all night, no bottles. I ovulated the day she turned 11 weeks and my periods were back on a 28 day cycle immediately.

DS slept through the night early, longer gaps between feeds from the off and my periods returned when he was 12 months.

Crimson bastard indeed.

foreverondiet · 15/12/2013 15:55

Stop periods forever - mirena coil Smile someone asked!?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 15/12/2013 15:58

That was me! Thank you foreverondiet! Here's to ending 'the crimson bastard'! Grin

RandomMess · 15/12/2013 15:59

Yeah with my youngest too mine returned straight away probably a couple of weeks off between lochia and first crimson bastard!!! Now my family is done I've had womb ablation - tis heaven Grin

SpottyDottie · 15/12/2013 15:59

I feel for you, Op. Different circumstances but I had an endometrial ablation and mirena done just under two months ago. The crimson bastard has well and truly arrived for me. FFS

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2013 15:59

Mine came back about a week after my postnatal bleeding stopped with DD. EBF night and day. I was monumentally pissed off I can tell you.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 15/12/2013 16:03

womb ablation what's that and how does it effect periods.

RandomMess · 15/12/2013 16:07

They laser the lining of your womb so it can't build up therefore you don't bleed at all or very much in a relatively high percent of cases. It's used to treat heavy periods where all else has failed. It is very dangerous to get pregnant afterwards though so you/your partner should be sterilised too.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 15/12/2013 16:09

I got away with well over a year with both of mine. Think you were unlucky.
Mind you they were never off the boob!

thebody · 15/12/2013 16:32

can't see why co sleeping and slinging make a difference?

think someone selling an attached parenting book there and making up research as they go along!! Grin are such practises supposed to make you more of a mother!!

I exclusively bf all my kids for a year each and the 'crimson bastard' came back in each case 3 months later.

no rhyme or reason to it. love your phrase op.

JugglingUnwiselyWithBaubles · 15/12/2013 16:36

But co-sleeping and using sling may increase access to BFing by the baby and increase frequency of feeds? I think this is linked to later re-appearance of periods?

2Tinsellytocare · 15/12/2013 17:22

Smile at third Pyramid. I just got my first one a year after DS was born so yanbu to feel pee'd off

PinkPepper · 15/12/2013 17:26

Same bloody here. Like clockwork about 8 weeks after ds was born.

FreeButtonBee · 15/12/2013 17:32

I have been biff twins for 10 months solid stopped night feeds ten days ago and the bastard turned up on Saturday night. Am still feeding at least 6 times a day but apparently that's my lot. . And I don't have my mooncup so using Baatard tampons.

TheHandbagOfGlory · 15/12/2013 17:33

Same here, first one about 2 weeks after my post natal bleeding stopped. I was pregnant again 6 weeks later Shock
