Im freaking out here slightly as I cannot handle blood.

DD was coming home from school and running and fell over, her nose was bleeding (still is a bit) and i think her inside lip.
It looks a bit swollen.

Her for head in between her eyes is raised like rock bump. Sorry to put in aibu just need quick answers.
dd is 4.

Yes take her. The lip wouldn't worry me (they bleed lots but stop very quickly) but I'd want the other facial injuries checked out.

Mammabear31 · 09/12/2013 15:41

Yes, take her. She should be seen quickly because of her age and the fact that its a head trauma.

Hope she is ok OP.

Aeroaddict · 09/12/2013 15:41

Yes, its always worth getting bumps on the head checked out.

I think I would in case she needs stitches if there isn't an out of hours gp service you can use instead. Better to be safe than sorry!

From my limited first aid knowledge mouth injuries heal very quickly as there's a lot of blood flow to the area to help with healing. Lumps are good as no lumps are bad following a bump to the head or face.

It sounds as though she's just had a bit of a nasty fall, poor thing Any contusion on the face tends to bleed a LOT, because there are many, many blood vessels in that part of the body. Get an ice pack on the bump and keep an eye on her, but don't rush to A&E. Call NHS Direct and get some advice if you are worried.

If she has lost consciousness, or is vomiting, or won't stop crying, then think about taking her to A&E.

SwishAndFlick · 09/12/2013 15:45

Thanks will take her now.

I'm sure it will be fine, but if I'm at all worried if rather someone looked at DS and told me not to worry! X

If you have a minor injuries unit take her there instead. It would be quicker and calmer than a&e. Hope she's ok

SwishAndFlick · 10/12/2013 07:59

Thanks for all the advice. We don't have a minor injuries unit near here so took dd to a&e. The doctor was really nice about the whole thing, DD has a possible broken nose and we have to wait till the swelling goes down before doing anything. The bump on her head is still quite big though.

DD has promised not to run there again. She was so scared poor baby.
