To be so fed up with the utter RUBBISH spouted by train companies

Well I know I'm not really Grin but this is the third working day in a row that I'm going to be late to work because of alleged 'poor rail conditions'

Really? It's not raining/icy/frosty/windy/snowy/hot, there's hardly any leaves left on the trees - it is a calm, slightly sunny December morning, not that cold I didn't even need gloves and this is a suburban rail service in London - there is absolutely no justification for another day of 20-30min delays. Angry most other countries manage in significantly more extreme weather conditions Hmm

I suppose at least it's marginally better than Friday - there's not (yet) a broken down train in the way Hmm

Grrrrh

Leaves on the trees have nothing to do with it. If they arnt on the trees where will thy be? On the rails. This makes the wheels slip making it dangerous, meaning the trains have to run at a lower speed.

Dp works for a train company and the amount of shit he gets if a train is delayed due to poor conditions! If the wheels are slipping because of poor rail head adhesion the breaks won't work properly, especially going at normal speed!!

My train company (also in the Southeast) had a "leaf falling timetable" in operation until today. This meant that out on the country we had extra minutes added to our journey in case a leaf fell on the line. We then waited these extra minutes at a station 40 miles outside London and then trundled into the city. Where there are FAR more trees near the line than in the rural area.

Today the Metro reports that we are subsidising not only the French (who own the rail company) but also the Welsh and Scottish travellers.

God save us all.

They have a dartboard and take it in turns to close their eyes and choose today's excuse.

starball I always thought they pulled the excuses out of a hat.
We also had the "rail conditions" today - lovely bright sunny, not-freezing morning...
