DS aged 5 is a adamant that Santa is magic and he would have no problem whatsoever to magic him a pair of X-ray glasses.
I have tried to say they simply haven't been invented yet, but DS won't have any of that. He really really really wants X-ray glasses for Christmas and nothing else.

So I reckon I can either try to think of something that I can 'sell' to DS as being X-ray glasses (I can't believe I am even typing that)... or shatter his belief in Santa's omnipotent magic....

Can you not explain that Santa's magic works in a different way? Otherwise I think you'll brick yourself into a corner because he'll be expecting all sorts like a time machine or a wishing lamp or something!

Maybe you could get him some funny glasses, or a book about what's inside bodies, and then put a note in from Father Christmas saying Dear X, I know you asked for x-ray glasses, but I'm sorry my elves couldn't manage those as their magic isn't the right sort. But they came up with this instead, I hope you like it. Love FC.

I'm thinking those comedy glasses with the eyeballs on springs would be hilarious to a 5 year old and any disappointment would be quickly forgotten with trying them on and scaring everyone.
