To think oven chips, duck spring rolls and sweetcorn is a perfect balanced meal?

OK, so it's not everyone's idea of a healthy, culinary delight but I'm ill with limited food in the house. Money is tight, so I'm avoiding a takeaway. I need comfort food. This appears to do the trick.

Sounds fine to me, but then home alone in the middle of the week I quite often have scones, jam and clotted cream for dinner Xmas Smile

As long as your full and it's not often who cares.

mousmous · 07/12/2013 19:23

sounds fine.
esp if that's not your daily diet.
has everything: veg, carbs, protein, fat.

foslady · 07/12/2013 19:31

After a day christmas shopping, surviving on a McD's wrap and fries, diet coke and tea, I've just demolished a cheese and onion pasty and will be starting on a cream strawberry tart.

Quite fancy the idea of your spring rolls now though...............

I'm sorry you're ill - and in which case, frankly, anything you can be arsed to cook is good enough!

(But - to answer your question - YABU. It is a massively unbalanced meal, with way too many carbs.)

I hope you're better soon, and that you enjoy your meal - that's more important than worrying about healthy food when you're poorly, IMVHO.

Not a dinner I'd have thought of having!

valiumredhead · 07/12/2013 19:57

Not balanced by any stretch of the imagination BUT you're ill so anything goes!Grin

Liquoricelips · 07/12/2013 20:00

It's the kind of meal I eat when I'm using up the odds and ends lurking at the bottom of the freezer. perfectly acceptable, especially when you are ill. Got anything for pudding?

PurplePidjin · 07/12/2013 20:07

We had fish fingers and pumpkin risotto for dinner. Neither adult in the house is ill. Yanbu!

candycoatedwaterdrops · 07/12/2013 20:16

I knew it was too carb heavy and I don't usually such shite but hey ho, it was nice! Grin

It's got a vegetable in it ffs (and maybe more in the spring rolls?), so by definition it's a brilliant meal. YANBU.

Glitterfeet · 07/12/2013 20:45

I'm ill and have had a small bowl of oven chips and half a bagel. One of my children is having toast soldiers and dipping them in a small pot of hot cheese sauce, he's had odd food times today and is exhausted.

YaNbu :)

when I'm in on my own I quite often have tinned macaroni cheese for tea Blush I got into when pregnant with dd and suffering from hideous morning sickness as I craved cheap, crap, salty carbs, and it still feels very comforting now!
