Viz, the metal detector, the Walkie talkies, the bug set? Feel a bit sold short as bought the toys as NG has a good name. But they are all crap! Anyone else think the same?

I've never bought any so cant really say but I have just been reading another thread where a few of the comments say that the telescope isn't up to much

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/12/2013 03:50

I know the adult stuff is well overpriced.

Crowler · 04/12/2013 04:36

The WT's are horrible. I bought some for a birthday or something, they barely worked; I replaced them with Motorola ones and never looked back.

I think as you've said, they trade on their name. They're trying to appeal to a demographic that avoids branded or gender-specific toys.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 04/12/2013 07:37

Yep totally agree. WTs lasted all of a day. Everything I have seen by them looks very cheap and flimsy.

SomethingkindaOod · 04/12/2013 08:11

DS has had the telescope and the metal detector. The telescope stand fell apart and he couldn't see a thing out of it and the metal detector broke by New Years Day through no fault of DS's. Sent it back, got a refund, replacement broke within a week again.
We gave up.

Very disappointing, bought 3/4 items one Christmas for DD1 and the quality was just so poor. Never again.

KungFuBustle · 04/12/2013 08:21

We wont be bothering again. I replaced the telescope with a second hand one from the charity shop. Wouldn't recognise the brand but it's a world of improvement.

Purplefrogshoe · 04/12/2013 09:31

Yep rubbish

Ds has the thing that projects the constellations onto the ceiling and I have to say it is quite effective and he enjoys lying in bed watching them go round. However, it has to be put on top of the wardrobe to be properly visible (and our ceilings are low) and it goes through batteries like nobody's business so he doesn't get to use it all that often. Would be ok if there was a mains lead but there isn't.
