To be upset with YODEL

According to the online tracker, they delivered my parcel just after 3 this afternoon, and left it in the back porch. I don't HAVE a back porch! They've told me to get in touch with House of Fraser for them to investigate. Really annoyed, the order contains gifts for my DGSs Sad

YANBU, bastarding Yodel Angry

Once they put my parcel under the welcome mat on a doorstep ten doors down. I didn't know where it was, the neighbour was away for days, the tracker said 'delivered' Hmm. Hate Yodel!

Another time, a parcel was marked as delivered and signed by me. I was in, there was no delivery. I found it had been thrown over my fence and was just lying there in a flowerbed. WTF?!

I paid for 'next day delivery' and the tracker was stuck on 'your parcel is in transit with Yodel' for two days. And right now, I'm waiting for next day delivery from Yodel that should have arrived yesterday.

If I knew Yodel was used I'd shop elsewhere. Is there a list of companies that use Yodel so we can avoid them?

I think that companies should state clearly within their delivery options the name of the designated courier company. It changes my shopping patterns. Once I learn they've sent via Yodel, I cross them off my list. Yodel's that bad, I don't give the store a second chance.

Without even reading the op, yanbu.

If you boycott Yodel clients, make sure you tell them so.

I had an e-mail saying my Yodel parcel had been delivered last Friday. It hadn't and I rang yesterday to query as had finally given up hope that they had dropped it with a neighbour. They spoke to the driver who said she would have to drive back down our street to jog her memory and would call me. She didn't bother but I have just had someone from another street in my town turn up with my parcel as she had delivered it to the right house number in the wrong road!

If you are going to boycott every company who uses Yodel to deliver, then you are going to have to boycott quite a lot of well known companies.

I'll start with a few companies who use Yodel to deliver, and hopefully, more people can join in, and we may compile a list worth consulting.

Book people
The entertainer
Boots
Amazon
Littlewoods
Esme
Very
Sports Direct
House Of Fraser
The Open University
Gap
Banana republic
Made.com
Currys
02
Vodafone
Carphone Warehouse
Boden
Asda
Halfords
Mothercare
John Lewis
Lakeland
Debenhams
Lidls
Tesco
Sainsbury's
Red House
Clarks
River Island
Office
T K Maxx
Zalando
Dunelm Mill
Ideal World
Dreams
Lego
Woolworths
Disney store

There are many more. I'm not sure I will join you just yet in the boycott since there are too many companies who do use them, and I'm not prepared to make a stand that wont actually make much difference, apart from to me of course, but then my Yodel delivery man is lovely.

Perhaps a lot of it comes down to who your delivery courier is? Some are nice and enjoy the job, others probably don't and don't take as much care?

I came home one evening to find a Yodel card through my door saying that I had a parcel 'in back garden'. A box with a huge flower arrangement had been thrown over my 7 foot high side gate and had sat on its side in the rain all day. It was for a house 4 doors away... they were NOT impressed.

The Yodel tracker said our microwave was delivered, signed for by Eliza. It took a whole week of calls, several insistences that I'd never heard of the woman, and threats of police involvement before they finally worked out it had gone to a house 15 minutes away. I think Eliza thought she was on to a good thing Hmm

littlemisssarcastic · 04/12/2013 20:45

I suspect that list is the tip of the iceberg Maryz.

My Yodel man says people complain if their parcel is not 'delivered' and they have to collect, because they paid to have it delivered, and they want it delivered.

OTOH, he says if your parcel is always thrown over a wall, that would suggest there is nowhere else to leave it so it is secure.

Apparently, some people leave their back gate unlocked if they are expecting a parcel.

It doesn't sound like an easy job to me.

I wonder if anyone knows the statistics for Yodel on how many parcels were successfully delivered or collected in the last year?
That's without being damaged or lost.

I'd be interested to know how they compare to other delivery companies.

It must still be worthwhile to use them, or as you say, the companies would stop using them to deliver. Hmm

DeckTheHallsWithBoughsOfHorry · 05/12/2013 09:21

I imagine those statistics are impossible to find - I'm sure Yodel know how many parcels were "successfully" delivered first time, how many collected from depot, how many returned to sender, and so on, but their definition of "successfully" delivered appears to be rather different from reality ours.
