To think my council tax would be better utilised paying for a police officer than being ploughed into the fire service?

I live in a beautiful Welsh coastal town. My council tax is going up and up due to the actions of local children. In particular one, the ringleader who's fecklessness has led to all manner of serious incidents.

He regularly causes incidents that require search and rescue, at an average of like a thousand pound an our.

I can't help think that if we had a local police officer to seriously bollock the little sod, or give him a formal warning, than the town would be much nicer. Instead the fire department repeatedly return him to his mother for a cuddles and fuss. It's infuriating. We could put the money into encouraging tourism for example. We already have an excellent Elvis impersonator who'd be quite the draw.

Hmm

You're blaming your increased council tax on ONE child?

Ummm I think there may be a bigger picture you're just not seeing.........

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2013 18:43

It is just one child. In the last year he has had the fire service out at least twice a month at an estimated cost of £930,000 if you include all the helicopters and boats.

How old is he? Do you mean that he gets into accidents and needs help or that he makes false calls or something?

Do you believe that the entire town's CT is going up because of this specific child?

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2013 18:45

Yes. I absolutely do. His mother runs the grocery store, and refuses to believe he's a problem.

Poor little soul?

Is his mum on her own? Does she work? In retail maybe?

I expect he is always leading others astray too...

Always. He babysat for the local cafe owner once. Within 10 minutes he'd set fire to the cafe.

His mother is infuriating and insists he is her little darling Hmm

His parents ought to be held accountable. How old is this little shit?

Yeah, sounds like he is a problem for sure, does he drag the local twins into the drama too by any chance?

Grennie · 02/12/2013 18:51

I am not sure a police officer giving him a bollocking would work, It would be cheaper to send him to a private boarding school though.

Salmotrutta · 02/12/2013 18:52

That's no excuse Northern - bet my day was harder than yours.

NorthernLurker · 02/12/2013 18:52

I did wonder what the ELVIS impersonator was doing in there.....

NorthernLurker · 02/12/2013 18:53

HoneyDragon · 02/12/2013 19:04
