To not expect the oven to be opened and closed on my soufflé?

Such a minor gripe in the scheme of things. But seriously, am I being unreasonable to expect my husband to not open and close the oven while I've set his favourite lemon soufflé to bake in there?

"I didn't know I couldn't do that! It will be fine won't it?"
Ugh. So where are the recipes that say " oh you know, don't worry about the temperature, just open and close the oven whenever you fancy."

Well he is about to find out if he can do that or not .

He had better eat it all -it doesnt say anywhere that you cant eat a flat souffle Wink

Bluestocking · 01/12/2013 19:38

Oh no! Still, if it falls, he has only himself to blame.
Is he given to unwarranted interference in other people's cooking?

PigletJohn · 01/12/2013 19:38

I didn't know I couldn't do that!

well s/he does now.

Only1scoop · 01/12/2013 19:39

Well....it may well not 'rise to the occasion' Wink

bundaberg · 01/12/2013 19:41

why was he opening the oven anyway??

Mogz · 01/12/2013 20:26

Argh! I hate it when people faff about in the kitchen whilst I'm cooking something.
At least he'll have learnt now that soufflé needs to be left well alone.
Make him do all the washing up as punishment!

A girl I used to live with was the most useless person ever. I once made a cake and while it was in the oven she opened the door and tried to work out whether she could grill her cheese on toast while my cake was baking!!!

Gutted this isn't a metaphor thread....

FryOneFatManic · 01/12/2013 21:16

Reminds me of the spoonyfucker thread Grin

I really can't stand people messing about with food I'm preparing. They're usually no help at all.

iloveny001 · 01/12/2013 21:23

I had a plumber in this week who opened my oven mid cake bake.

Halfrek · 01/12/2013 21:54

I work in schools and one year we had a very nasty yr 11 lad open the oven door while a girl was cooking a soufflé for her Food exam. He did it on purpose knowing it would be ruined :(
