I have started uni and have been sharing a flat with a lovely man when I go there during the week. He enjoys cooking and eating tasty healthy food and so do I. We take it roughly in turns to cook for each other, though nothing is set in stone. It can just be who is the least busy who cooks.

I have been loving that aspect of my life in that city. I HATE the 'this lot have to be fed' type cooking, that is the only thing DP will really eat. He is very limited in what he chooses to eat and when I cook 'proper' food at home, he will often say he isn't hungry and then eat crap later.

I am taking such pleasure in cooking for someone who appreciates it now though. I do feel almost guilty about it. So, AIBU!

YANBU. My DP is a ridiculously fussy eater, when we moved in together he had 4 meals that he would eat I got him up to around 10 now but I an so bored if eating the same thing or cooking for 2. It was a relief when I had DS as at least I have an excuse to cook different meals now.

Yanbu, but how about microwave meals for your husband and cook what you fancy for you and your son?

WillYou, I got DP to eat home made curry with vegetables in it. I got quite excited about that and he will occasionally deign to eat a roast dinner. Otherwise it is chips and crap all the way! He will eat very plain cottage pie too, but I like bunging allsorts in it.

Had a text from my flat mate today asking when I am going down there this week, as 'I've got something interesting planned for dinner one evening'. He won't tell me what, but I don't blame him as I wouldn't tell him what was in my 'special chicken' sauce until he had tried it (coke, tinned tomatoes and chinese five spice), because I worried he might think it sounded bad.

Haha, i was wondering how this one would be. You've got to get your satisfaction somewhere! Luckily DH and I are compatible in the kitchen. It would drive me mental of he'd only eat a few things. As it is the only things he won't eat are olives , coconut (that tastes like coconut, it's fine in curry ) and meringue.

Oh Jean, there is definitely no trouble ahead. I call him the younger brother (and he is very much younger) I am glad I never had. He takes the piss out of me, as I do him. I have tried fixing him up with another student nurse friend of mine. I do not think of him in that way at all, and am sure he doesn't me fat and 46 and homely at best.

Even if there were those kind of feelings, I am with someone and choose never to cheat on him in that way, although he only has himself to blame over the food thing!

I just cooked a lovely dinner for my parents. Mum wouldn't eat it as it had onions in it. She had crappy chicken nuggets instead. Even DD doesn't eat them (nuggets) as they are so awful!

It's really frustrating trying to cook for unadventurous and picky eaters.

ACalm, I resisted the other day, when a stew was cooking in the slow cooker. I could see it from the living room, the flat is open plan, I could smell it, but I didn't want to upset him by touching it! That was sooo hard!!

I cannot stand adults who are fussy. I'm not talking about people who literally gag if they eat certain things becasue of texture and stuff, just the ones who "don't like vegetables" and shit. grow the fuck up

Mine's the opposite Mamma, he hates the texture of meat but loves vegetables. Still loves chips and pizza though. I think it's MiL's doing - she rolls her eyes when I give DS (11 m) meat off my plate at hers; she doesn't give him meat only spuds and veg. When I sent him to hers with a beef stew the other week she sent it back and gave him baby rice with apple that she just happened to have in as he hadn't fancied stew They clearly have a psychic link as he obviously can't talk.

No, I don't but the negativity gets me down. DS is the same as DP. I do not allow chips every day that I am here, goodness knows when I am not, but get sick of making an effort and it being rejected outright by DP and moaned about by DS. DD eats everything and says thank you.

I do try to cook a variety of meals. DS does not like potatoes unless they are chips but will eat pasta and noodles. DP will not eat pasta or noodles, but will eat potatoes. DD will not eat pasta either, after me sayign she will eat anything, that is the one thing she hates.

It is bloody hard work to cook something everyone likes. I have been known, when older DD still lived here, to make 5 different meals. Nice to sit round the table to no moaning, but bloody hard work!

WillYou, my DD1s speech therapist said that often people with ear problems will reject meat, as the chewing required irritates the ears. She was practically vegetarian at that stage. She eats well now except she works at MaccyDs and gets free food at work.

I refuse to cook for men who are too lazy to do it for themselves...

Ha ha, I have other men text me too and they are all lovely! I have a couple of lovely men who are student nurses with me who I chat to all the time.

I think it is wonderful that my DP trusts me and understands my feelings about being faithful enough for me to share a flat with a man. It isn't an issue for us at all. He totally gets our friendship, which is what we have become. They support the same football team, so DP sends messages to my flat mate about that through me!

I have just looked back over FB and found that I an actually more flirtacious with my GFs than my BFs inc flat mate!!
