I'm an occasional lurker on here, rarely post, but have had some time off work and have been lurking a little more...

Some of the stuff that people ask and check on is unreal..

Honestly, I'm amazed some people can breathe on their own without checking in first!

Time to go back to not lurking very often I think!

Sometimes even good friends can't understand what you're experiencing if they haven't been through the same things, so it's useful to know that there is a huge community of different people, each with their own wisdom to offer.

Once you become dependent on the outside influence of others for making those big and important decisions, I suppose it's not a big leap to ask for answers about the trivial things that you can't decide too.

Sometimes it's just nice to have someone interact with you, like passing pleasantries in the supermarket queue.

I see where you're coming from OP, but on the other hand it's good that some people without the wherewithal to make a decision or judge a scenario impartially are willing to get external advice (although whether this is always the best place to get it...). Much better than people who can't make decent decisions but refuse to listen to anyone elses opinion.

tiggerpigger · 30/11/2013 20:29

I know what you mean op. Like the person who started a thread asking what she should do about her amazon delivery not arriving, rather than contacting amazon.

People responded and told her to contact amazon, so she did, and it was resolved.

Unbelievable that she had to start a thread to work that out...

tiggerpigger · 30/11/2013 20:31

Dont get me wrong, fair enough seeking different points of view about dilemas etc but some people dont seem to be able to make any common sense practical decisions for themselves

trashcanjunkie · 30/11/2013 20:32

aw c'mon man, seriously?

Heartbrokenmum73 · 30/11/2013 20:33

I can't decide whether to post on this thread or not - can someone help?

Oh, hang on...

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2013 20:37

But things like the Amazon delivery. People will come and say 'don't bother doing that, do this' or 'that happened to me and i did this'. Tis helpful.

AwkwardSquad · 30/11/2013 20:39

Definitely gin then wine.

tiggerpigger · 30/11/2013 20:41

Fair enough if they've tried to contact amazon and aren't getting anywhere etc, but to start a thread before even trying the single most obvious thing?

ApplesinmyPocket · 30/11/2013 20:49

As for the most important question of the thread, the turkey mince, how about meatballs? I've never tried it with turkey to be honest. But I reckon it would be tasty, fry an onion or two, then simmer the seasoned turkey balls like little dumplings in a sauce of tinned tomatoes, some stock, etc. Maybe stir in some grated cheese before serving like a bol(ball?)ognese.

(turkey balls?) Grin

Great minds think alike, Arya!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/12/2013 00:02

Justmakingdo - don't make turkey meatballs with your turkey mince - I made some and they were grim - flavourless and yucky. Even in tomato sauce, they were inedible.

I used to make a turkey cobbler - turkey mince fried up with finely diced onion, in a cheese sauce, with savoury scones on top, baked in the oven. That was pretty nice.

ilovesooty · 01/12/2013 00:04

I reckon half the time people have no trouble actually deciding or doing things. They post because they need validation having already made up their minds.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 01/12/2013 00:10

There have been adverts for something on tv where an audience help someone make a major life decision. I said to DH 'Oh that's based on AIBU/Chat'.

southeastastra · 01/12/2013 00:17

or people post just to start or have conversations? get over it op and join in, it's fun dont'cha know

Spermysextowel · 01/12/2013 00:19

I'd suggest adding some pork mince to the turkey if you want to make meatballs to prevent dryness, but since I've never tried it I think that you should seek advice.

MardyBra · 01/12/2013 00:21

There are thousands of users on MN every day, plus loads of lurkers. Most of us get on just fine without consulting the MN jury. There's just the occ nutter who wants to know whether to eat the out of date chicken.

No biggie. Do the maths.

Spermysextowel · 01/12/2013 00:22

Dryness to your meatballs that is; not that you might might find meatballs a cure for life's other dryness problems.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 01/12/2013 00:25

I can't decide what my response should be to OP's question.

can anyone help me?

(I'm not typing this alone either, DD is holding my hand)

ThanSheSaid · 01/12/2013 00:26

I don't mind when people use MN to help them make a dicision but I think its a bit Confused when posters start AIBU threads when they have clearly already decided that they have been reasonable even, after pages of posts saying the contrary

Anyway, AIBU because I don't know if I should go to bed.
