To think that Philip Schofield is a monumental arsehole?

I was just on the DM website, browsing the side bar of shame and came across this

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2514492/Phillip-Schofield-says-Rebecca-Adlington-shouldnt-Im-A-Celeb.html

Now I don't particularly disagree with him in principle, however it would have been far more professional for him to keep his stupid, arrogant mouth shut. But having witnessed him on This Morning in recent years it's becoming increasingly clear that he thinks he's far more important than he actually is and that people actually giving a flying shit about what he thinks.

I think he's a smug, self indulgent knob and I can no longer watch This Morning because of him. Why is he still so popular?

The alternative is Eamonn Holmes Hmm
I don't see what is so bad about what P.S. said quite honestly.

CiderBomb · 27/11/2013 18:12

Well it's not just that in fairness. I find him horribly arrogant, smug and generally irritating.

I agree CiderBomb.

Vivacia · 27/11/2013 18:13

Three words for you: Gordon. The. Gopher.

FortyFacedFuckers · 27/11/2013 18:13

I love him sorry Blush

Bluemonkeyspots · 27/11/2013 18:15

I quite like old Philip.

I do have to add though that I am totally disappointed in RA, I thought she was a great role model and have had several conversations with older dd's about how much she has achieved in her life but she comes across as so weak and lacking any of the fire that I expected her to have.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 27/11/2013 18:15

I preferred Ed the Duck!

Anyone else remember when he got his giant Blue Peter badge and fainted?

TV gold Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 27/11/2013 18:16

He loves Joey Essex, he's the only one that he has a good word to say about.
As is the same with all ITV shows.
I don't think they're permitted to back anybody else, they want to keep TOWIE up in the ratings.

Ihatepeas · 27/11/2013 18:16

I was watching this morning when this comment was made I think it was a harmless comment that's been blown out of proportion by the bloody daily mail.

NewtRipley · 27/11/2013 18:19

Love the DM. the term "psychology phobia". Check your editing DM!

EvilRingahBitch · 27/11/2013 18:19

What did he say? (Boycotting DM - unlike the rest of you judging from their huge online revenue growth last year Sad).

clam · 27/11/2013 18:20

But if they got rid of him, they might decide it's a good wheeze to bring in Aled Jones.

CiderBomb · 27/11/2013 18:20

This Morning is now just a promotional tool for itv's other crappy reality shows. Why do we need segments to analyse and pick apart the X Factor and I'm a Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent etc? It's lazy broadcasting, I remember the days when Richard and Judy hosted it and it was a far superior show.

YANBU

But I bet this thread wont last long. Threads slagging His Royal Highness off get deleted PDQ.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 27/11/2013 18:21

Can't see what he's said that's wrong. I don't watch it, can't bear insects, but if you are willing to take their money then you take what's coming in terms of challenges. If you know you can't do that then you shouldn't be there.

SeaDevilscanPlay · 27/11/2013 18:22

But if they got rid of him, they might decide it's a good wheeze to bring in Aled Jones.

Or Rylan Shock

Lollypop1983 · 27/11/2013 18:23

I agree with ihatepeas.

Absolutely nothing to it....DM have blown it up, as usual!

NewtRipley · 27/11/2013 18:25

CiderBomb

I agree with your last post. It's now just a never-ending cycle of ITV up-its--own-arseness

DuckToWater · 27/11/2013 18:25

YANBU. I had a huge crush on him when he was doing the Broom Cupboard and I was about 11. I've gradually gone off him over the years though as he seems too pleased with himself and a bit of a knob on occasion. He has fallen into the trap of believing his own hype, IMO, as many other celebs do.

NewtRipley · 27/11/2013 18:26

Duck

I agree

grassandass · 27/11/2013 18:28

He never said anything awful. Bit of a non story this.

MyCatsRule · 27/11/2013 18:29

I can't abide his 'chemistry' with Hollt - juvenile sniggering and double entendres every five minutes.

Ham69 · 27/11/2013 18:29

YANBU. I find him so smug, condescending and insincere and his lack of lips concerns me. And he's on EVERYTHING. Why?
At least he's marginally better with Holly than the equally condescending Fern and their desperate attempts to fake chemistry.

LurcioLovesFrankie · 27/11/2013 18:30

Bluemonkey - what exactly do you expect from RA? She's a very fine swimmer, and comes across as a very nice young woman, who has then been ripped apart by the popular press (in typical DM sidebar of shame style - the whole, internally inconsistent shit of "yes she's brilliant, but we are now going to dissect her looks, her every word in a TV interview no matter how wrong footed she was by the much older, media-savvy interviewer, and, all in the public interest of course, discuss that all important issue of international politics and world order in the 21st century, whether or not she has cankles"). So she comes across as defensive? Who wouldn't under those circumstances?

She didn't set herself up as the spokeswoman for a generation. She was a superb swimmer, for which she should be celebrated, and comes across as a nice person. But why should we expect her to be "strong" or "full of fire"?

BTW, there is an alternative to PS and EH - it's called the radio. The Today programme on radio 4 if you want to be irritated occasionally but reasonably well informed, radio 3 if you want nice music and carries the world service news every half hour, which, frankly, has as much actual news content in 5 minutes as the TV manages in a whole hour-long broadcast.

Sadly DS prefers milkshake (though I have to admit that is infinitely preferrable to breakfast TV aimed at adults).
