but this one one went on for ages it was like this :- see ya 'maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate'.No word of a lie the cashiers both found it extremly funny.I didn't see the funny side and thought he was taking the mick all I said back was 'laters'.I recently pulled one of them up on their manners when instead of saying 99p PLEASE he said 99p MATE.I told him he should say please instead of mate and that I wasn't his mate which i'm not grrrrrrr .I feel i'm being a bit paranoid but I can't stand bad manners.

So you told one of them not to call you 'mate' a while ago and this time he called you 'maaaatttteee'? He was being rude and taking the P.
is it a shop with a manager or is he the manager?

inkyfingers · 27/11/2013 18:07

Report them and stop using the shop.

TooOldForGlitter · 27/11/2013 18:10

YABU to expect to be served like you are in John Lewis if you are in the pound shop.

I love being called mate. A scaffolder at work said "see ya later mate" to me today and I was delighted.

It should matter whether you are in harrods or a charity shop the employees should be polite to the customers.

I have a colleague who calls everyone 'babe' & it is quite irritating so i can understand why you are annoyed.

NicknameIncomplete · 27/11/2013 18:43

*Shouldnt matter
