diamondsrforever · 25/11/2013 07:33

People keep getting on at me for not teaching my 3yo ds to say "I" and not "my", we also have an "armbow" and not an "elbow" and tend to find things "hunder" the table rather than "under" I find all of these really cute and think as soon as they've gone I've got none of my baby left, aibu to not correct him every single time!!??? I like it!! What little things do all your little ones say that make u smile each time Smile

"The Little Marmalade" for "The Little Mermaid" is fantastic!

Rufus44 · 25/11/2013 11:29

Pooter, which means computer. We all started using it, shame when ds2 stopped

Ds1 can't say animal, it's always aminal. He is 15

Crowler · 25/11/2013 11:31

Ah, pooter. Mine said that. Adorable.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 25/11/2013 11:42

It's not DS anymore it's me. He is 11 now and when he was little we had saying like sockie pops and even now when he is getting ready for a day at secondary school I will say don't forget your sockie pops Blush

I have to remind myself not to cut his bloody food up for him as well......my only defense is....fuck, I don't have one :)

mrsWast · 25/11/2013 11:48

my daughter is 13 and we still have fingersnails and toesnails. i was sad when she dropped 'efelant' and 'hippopopannus'.

onlysettleforbutterflies · 25/11/2013 11:51

We went to see a pantyline on Saturday, he meant pantomime Smile.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 25/11/2013 11:57

My ds is 21 months and we have,

Slipperer for slipper
Ebit for elephant
Heh-ter for helicopter
Jumperer for jumper

It's just so adorable.

Katiepoes · 25/11/2013 12:03

We have basketti instead of spaghetti, and her favourite place to go at the moment is OckDonalds. Wellies are puddleboots and her bike bell is a ringer. At Christmas we are flying to Irelander in a fly...I need to start writing these down.

RaxacoricofallapatorianCatpuss · 25/11/2013 12:31

my DS is 17. We still use his mispronunciations. We Have "Thank Bob" (Thank God)
"Nusually" (usually)
"Norman" (normal)
They are ingrained into our family vocabulary. It always makes me smile. Smile

peppapigmustdie · 25/11/2013 12:39

DD2 has many but my favourites are Uciforn for Unicorn and Bebrest for breakfast.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 25/11/2013 12:42

Cha-boon was balloon, now bawoon is balloon.
Butterfly was buffly for ages

It's v sweet. I model, but don't correct.

SuddenlySqueamish · 25/11/2013 12:47

It makes me so sad that my niece can now say my name. I miss being auntie Jim

GhostsInSnow · 25/11/2013 12:47

DS had an 'umzebra' to keep off the rain (confused from his flash cards I suspect) He'd put on his 'dressing down' and go to 'peep'. Oh and he had an 'elbone'.

He's 21, we still refer to these things now Blush

TwoThreeFourSix · 25/11/2013 13:06

My mispronounciations became family language too

Nit bit - biscuit
Baybole - polo
Rice peam - ice cream

Problem is, my parents now look after DS whilst I work and I've had to remind them to use the proper words!

DS (2) says:
Coc coc ter - helicopter
Me me - milk

And many others that I can't remember! Poor lad is juggling 2 languages too, so it's an added complication!

TwoThreeFourSix · 25/11/2013 13:08

Forgot to say, lovely thread!

SqueezeMeBakingPowder · 25/11/2013 13:15

My niece used to say bungi for cucumber, and television singy for remote control!

When I nannied the little girl used to say her dad was working 'down sNouth' and coat hangers were hoat canners!

JacqueslePeacock · 25/11/2013 13:18

Our toddler's mispronunciations are spreading out into the whole family, rather than being corrected.

We now all say "hello-phone" for "telephone", for example. Much more expressive!

5Foot5 · 25/11/2013 13:19

We had "ralligator" for radiator and "gobolina" for cucumber.

My favourite was the day she came home from nursery and announced that some of the children had "head lights" and everyone was talking about it.

Blithereens · 25/11/2013 13:20

I used to say 'roon' instead of room, 'Dangrad' instead of Grandad, and 'heab' instead of heave when I was pulling something heavy. We all still say 'heab' Grin

Deliaskis · 25/11/2013 13:23

Love these, my 2.9 yr olds current crop are:

Pumpets for crumpets, which she eats a lot of
Bandma and Bandpa for G'ma & G'pa
Yammo for piano, no idea why
Tops for tots, her room and nursery ("Mummy is it tops today?")
Toggers for toddlers, as above
And the one that cracks me up, is the many extra syllables in Humpty Dumpty....pronounced Hammerdiddy Dammerdiddy, for reasons passing understanding!

D

Longdistance · 25/11/2013 13:24

We play eye spy with my dd1 who's 4. She says ' I spy with my lucky eye something begiggling with ...'

We find this hilarious. We correct her, but it doesn't work, meh!

WhatEverItIsIDidntDoIt · 25/11/2013 13:24

My DS and mine favourite word at the moment is randangle rectangle Grin

YANBU by the way

Aquariusgirl86 · 25/11/2013 13:27

My daughter hates
"Nacheeee changing" ( nappy changing to you and I)

somersethouse · 25/11/2013 13:30

My DD (5) says 'hoppergrass' for 'grasshopper' and I can't bear to correct her.

I did have to correct 'cock' for 'clock' though.

FraidyCat · 25/11/2013 13:39

"lellow melons" = "yellow lemons"
