To not correct my child's cute sayings

diamondsrforever · 25/11/2013 07:33

People keep getting on at me for not teaching my 3yo ds to say "I" and not "my", we also have an "armbow" and not an "elbow" and tend to find things "hunder" the table rather than "under" I find all of these really cute and think as soon as they've gone I've got none of my baby left, aibu to not correct him every single time!!??? I like it!! What little things do all your little ones say that make u smile each time Smile

Grin at 'fuck fuck' being a bit embarrassing!

We still have a 'cat nap' in the car (sat nav), a tejavillain that we watch programmes on, squirrels are still known as scribbles and helicopters as 'hepitars' Smile

carovioletfizz · 25/11/2013 09:03

Dd4 still calls crocodiles crocodoodles. And ds2's favourite tv show is Oyag (Katie morag).

chrome100 · 25/11/2013 09:05

I used to say "nes" when I wasn't sure whether to say "yes" or "no". I think it's quite a useful word and should be adopted into the English language!

Oodyouthinkyouare · 25/11/2013 09:05

I miss my Ds 5 mispronouncing words , Its all part of growing up so enjoy it while it lasts Smile

A few from my Ds -

Bimbumber - Cucumber

Babbit - Rabbit

Bomato - Tomato

Is it bad that I have only just noticed that they all seem to begin with 'B' Blush

JapaneseMargaret · 25/11/2013 09:08

DD, 3.3 says 'cappertiller', 'abracajaguar' and 'shark teeth' instead of sharp teeth, which has a Joey Tribbianni, sort of twisted logic to it. Grin

TruthSweet · 25/11/2013 09:10

DD3 still calls Christmas 'Missmuss' at 4y

Fantail · 25/11/2013 09:13

We eat Chinese food with drumsticks and very, very frequently willn't do things.

Honestly, we say the correct word, DD 2.9 says something else.

runningonwillpower · 25/11/2013 09:14

My son said 'lellow' right up until he could read his alphabet book and found yellow under the ys.

He took some convincing that the book wasn't wrong.

As for his version of marmalade??

FlipFlippingFlippers · 25/11/2013 09:18

My dd2 says chicken yoghurts instead of chicken nuggets and thinks bees don't go buzz they go beeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Also says christnas instead of Christmas. Dd1 used to say everything happened last morning and also had a habit of calling clocks cocks which wasn't as cute!

CadleCrap · 25/11/2013 09:25

DD likes the film a little marmalade (Little mermaid) and DS has a really good remembery!

Love it!

moominleigh94 · 25/11/2013 09:28

I wouldn't worry too much, I'm proof they grow out of it even if you don't correct them.

My parents have several videos of me when I was about three and couldn't pronounce any sound other than "w" and "g" apparently. They made me sing Christmas carols for the video so there's a recording of me singing "Walking in a Winger Wongerwang". They were just sat there laughing away, making no attempt to correct me Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 25/11/2013 09:30

These posts are too cute Smile
Little children are just so sweet Smile

diamondsrforever · 25/11/2013 10:09

Absolutely loving all of these, giving me lots of smiles on this miserable morning Grin

I used to go to university, DS called it my "uni-nursery" :)

CocacolaMum · 25/11/2013 10:15

My daughter used to call our local cathedral "the princess castle" NO WAY was a ever correcting that!

My ds called diggers (which he loved) "big hands", My little brother used to call motorbikes "muckerbikes". He is now 22 and we all still call them that.

flatmum · 25/11/2013 10:16

YANBU. They grow out of them anyway with or without correction.

Mine used to go upstairs after their bath to put their flippers on then come downstairs for trumpets. So sweet!

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 25/11/2013 10:17

Yes you're not supposed to correct them so carry on enjoying it Grin As long as you're not saying it back to them incorrectly it's fine Grin

DS called puddles wuddles. He also used to say ambleeance and brussels' sprouts were mussel sprouts. He also somehow conflated this word with his testicles. I kept that one. I still refer to them as his mussel sprouts Blush

leelo · 25/11/2013 10:17

Both my children have had problems with their hearing leading to some really funny situations.but some examples are carols like the little malteaser instead of the little lord jesus. bamputer, computer.
but the time my dd age 3 told a cinema queue that mummy loves cockporn is a day that still makes me laugh.

BertieBowtiesAreCool · 25/11/2013 10:18

Ohh I also remember he used to call eyebrows "your browneye" Grin Grin

(In some parts of the UK "brown eye" is slang for bumhole)

Pascha · 25/11/2013 10:19

DS1 got given a chocolate coin by 'Farmer Chrismas' at the garden centre last week Grin

flatmum · 25/11/2013 10:19

all of mine including the 8y old stil think butterflys are flutterbys even tho I say butterfly.

thebody · 25/11/2013 10:24

God yes plenty of time to be grown up. I love the cute sayings and can now only say binoclears now for binoculars.

far to much in a hurry to 'correct' kids now.

.

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/11/2013 10:25

I love this. DS2 is 3 and the other morning said he would be having Chicken Pox for breakfast. He meant Coco Pops Grin

DS1 went to school in his School Unicorn when he started reception. Me and DH said how cool would it be if the school actually had a School Unicorn!

Crowler · 25/11/2013 10:28

Oh. They make me tear up just thinking about them (sob).

My youngest (nearly 8) still says "accident" instead of "accent" which I love. Particularly when he's talking about an "American accident".
