"Is nothing sacred?!"

So, DM calls for a chat and I pick up. 10 mins into the convo she notices an echo on the line and I tell her it's nothing, I'm just in the bath.

Cue copious amounts of laughter and cries of "Is nothing sacred?!" This coming from a woman who habitually Facebooks her meals.

Is it really weird that I had my phone near the bath and thought nothing of answering? I'm 25 and have had a phone since I was about 10. It wouldn't have occurred to me to leave it elsewhere.

Does anyone else do things like this that others find weird, but that they think nothing of?

I wouldn't use my phone near the bath because the chances are I'd drop it in.

Tortoisegirl · 24/11/2013 14:29

Unless you are on Facetime, then no, not U. She cant see you! It's no worse than lying on the sofa IMO.

Joysmum · 24/11/2013 14:30

My nearest and dearest find it strange if I'm not in the bath when they phone!

Jolleigh · 24/11/2013 14:31

Youthecat - I've done that twice Blush

I had to laugh at this! Sounds like my best friend.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 24/11/2013 14:34

Make sure you put your phone in a ziploc sandwich bag - then you can mn without risking damage if you drop it!

Phone still works fine Grin

YouTheCat · 24/11/2013 14:35

I do take my phone in the bathroom and put music on but it stays in my dressing gown pocket, well away from the bath.

I'm too clumsy to risk it otherwise. Grin

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 24/11/2013 14:36

There are 2 kind of baths.

  1. when the DC jumps in and I wouldn't have my phone within a mile of the bath.

  2. relaxing rare bath with no DC and I wouldn't have my phone either as it a rare treat.

Either way my phone is recharging while I am in the bath.

DameDeepRedBetty · 24/11/2013 14:37

Bit of a tangent, but I keep a supply of charity shop paperbacks ready for bathtime, after having to buy a replacement copy of a library book due to a butterfingers moment in the bath.

Jolleigh · 24/11/2013 14:39

I've dropped many a book in the bath Grin

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 24/11/2013 14:40

Dame I will only have paper copy of book, no way is my e reader going by the bath either

puntasticusername · 24/11/2013 14:42

My friend Facebooked the other day: "Help! I'm stuck in the bathroom with no towel, and DP has just let guests in downstairs! I can't get back to my bedroom without them seeing!".

And I thought "riiiiiight...so you forgot to take a towel in to the bathroom with you...but you DID remember your phone..."

(Ps if anyone cares, she had to do the Dash of Shame across the landing accompanied only by a flannel, she got away with it though).

squoosh · 24/11/2013 14:43

Next time she phones run to the sink and drop pebbles in. When she asks what the noise is just tell her you've been a bit backed up but thankfully things seem to be moving nicely now.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 24/11/2013 14:43

Kindle works in a sandwich bag too.

Lakeland sell special waterproof device bags, but your standard ziploc ones work fine.

Honestly, who reads paper in this day and age

MinesAPintOfTea · 24/11/2013 14:43

I took my phone into the bathroom one evening when DH was travelling a long distance and I was expecting an "arrived" phone call that I wanted to catch. Phone rang, I accidently answered it immediately then realised it was one of my (consultancy) clients ringing unexpectedly late.

I stayed very still and quiet until he decided it must be a bad line and hung up Blush

Jolleigh · 24/11/2013 14:51

squoosh - I am definitely doing that next time!

Is this a follow up to the taking your IPad into the toilet thread? Are we working our way round the house with different electronic devices?

ZombieMojaveWonderer · 24/11/2013 18:35

I listen to my audible books when I'm in the bath but it's well out of the way or I would drop it in or get water on it because that's just my luck Wink

Jolleigh · 24/11/2013 19:34

Better - not me...on the toilet is a step too far for me Smile

I wrap my Kindle in cling film

I hang my phone using hand over the edge of the bath

Sadly, I have had a conversation with someone who was having a shit whilst also speaking to me on their phone. Needless to say we only text each other now. I can still hear the splash.
