Yesterday,I was on a bus, going on a journey lasting around an hour or so,and I was enjoying reading a book on my ipad mini. I was about 15 minutes into my journey, when a woman with two children, aged about 4 and 6, interrupted me,and said he,pointing to the six year old, wants to play with your ipad. We've forgotten ours.

I said sorry, but I'm reading. "They'll just be ten minutes with it"I said sorry,I don't have children's games on it,and I'm using it to read.

She said but they're bored. I thought not my problem, but didn't say it,just said I'm sorry but I'm using it. She snapped at me,and said well you shouldn't bring it with you if you won't share.

So,just how mean was I?

Really?

Sirzy · 24/11/2013 10:57

Cheeky woman!

I would have been tempted to say "well its not my fault you can't entertain your children without the use of technology"

Thatisall · 24/11/2013 10:58

Wtaf?

Thatisall · 24/11/2013 10:58

That's the weirdest thing I ever heard

Publicproperty · 24/11/2013 10:59

Yes,really. Some people have a strange sense of entitlement.

Who was the poster who was asked for her backpack again? And was expected to empty out all of her belongings,so a child could have it?

Some people never fail to amaze me - why do people feel that they have the right to ask things like this.

I wouldn't loan my iPad to a friend never mind a random small child on a moving bus Shock

Hmm Really?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/11/2013 11:05

They might have been a bit peckish and want half of your sandwich too...Wink

Beamur · 24/11/2013 11:06

YANBU.
VV cheeky of that woman to ask.

Publicproperty · 24/11/2013 11:20

Sandwich? Is that code? Confused

Either she was unbelievably rude/cheeky/unreasonable or this is some weird reverse-AIBU.

nennypops · 24/11/2013 11:23

Wouldn't it be great to turn it round on her? If you meet her again on that bus and her dc are playing with their iPad, demand that she take it off them and let you borrow it. Point out that she shouldn't have brought it along if she won't share.

K8Middleton · 24/11/2013 11:30

How bizarre. Ywnbu.

WorraLiberty · 24/11/2013 11:33

Yeah right...

TidyDancer · 24/11/2013 11:34

I'm the one who was asked for her bag and said no to handing it over.

Unfortunately, there really are people out there who are that brazen and cheeky.

Yanbu at all.

YouTheCat · 24/11/2013 11:41

Tidy, you get asked for all kinds though. You must have a really 'giving' face. Asked for backpacks. Asked for working unpaid on fancy wedding decorations etc. Grin

TidyDancer · 24/11/2013 11:43

I must do. Or I have that invisible 'mug' stamp! Grin

If there are cheeky bastard weirdos to be found, I will attract them like a magnet.

YouTheCat · 24/11/2013 11:46

Tidy, could I have £20 then please? You shouldn't have it if you won't share. Grin

[cheeky cow emoticon]

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/11/2013 11:46

Yanbu

That is weird

"Hey stranger can I have a go on your v expensive piece of kit?". Absolutely not.

MrsCosmopilite · 24/11/2013 11:48

Some people are incredibly entitled, rude, and well.... I can't even find words.

I think I'm going to follow their lead now though.

You , you have £10,000 that I need. Can I have it? I need it for my daughter's bedroom. You've got a bedroom, and she wants one.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 24/11/2013 11:50

Did this really happen?

If it did, I have no words about the cheek of some people.

Jbck · 24/11/2013 11:56

She was obviously a loon. YANBU in the slghtest.

Publicproperty · 24/11/2013 12:01

Yes it really happened. There are a lot of cheeky sods out there unfortunately,as TidyDancer knows all too well.

I'm still Shock at your backpack story,Tidy. I haven't read about the wedding one though poor you.
