to wish schools etc would publish actual salaries rather than leaving them open to interpretation?

Before people start - I am quite capable of working out pro-rata pay.

But sometimes you see salaries advertised with pro-rata next to them, sometimes you just see the word salary and then you see TTO plus 10 days.

It would be easier if they published the actual pay they will give you. I've seen one which looks tempting but I am not sure about the salary so will have to make a phone call.

What do people think this would pay?

37 hours per week term time, plus 10 days

Grade 8 (£21,555 - £26,035 per annum)

I agree - it would be clearer if there was a universally adopted standard, and I think the clearest would be actual pay for the (specified) hours, plus FTE rate.

Would it be more transparent to publish an hourly rate and the number of hours required of you. School pay is not quite as pants as many TAs would make out, but certainly its true that there are hardly any full time jobs in schools.

We'll pay you £9 per hour and you can work 37 hrs a week. But only in the term.

Much easier.

I never know how holiday pay works for TTO jobs - surely you can also get paid a percentage of the holiday entitlement too?
