To let the squirrel in to play the Xbox, and while I'm here - do cats understand lawnmowers?

Yes I am sober.

We have a few regularly visiting squirrels, i feed 'em nuts as i quite like to see their happy little squirrely faces jumping around the garden. One squig though always seems to stay around when the xbox is on (you can see it from the patio doors). I've just turned it on to have a sneaky go at minecraft - squig is eyeballing me again. Tempted to pass him a controller and see what he can do. That's perfectly reasonable isn't it?

And on the cat thing. Last time I mowed my lawn, cat (not mine) just kept moving a little bit away rather than buggering off somewhere else. I swear it was tutting at me as well every time the mower got near him. Don't they understand I'll be mowing the whole lawn?? For notoriously lazy animals, he created quite a bit of work for himself there. Its been bothering me.

TIA for any sage advice in these pressing matters.

The foxes taking plastic food trays home with them has tickled my funnybone big-time.

Re the cat, I'm guessing it was making a Statement. This is HIS lawn and he happens to be resting comfortably on it, while here's you encroaching with noisy machines. He is blowed if he will make it any easier for you than strictly necessary.

GetOrf, it's a bit sad really, she goes all weird and hides away in strange corners with her squeaky balls, scratching away at the bedding or the carpet (nesting) and slinking around all sneaky.
Even when you try to be kind and stroke her she can't put up with it for long which is the total opposite of what she's usually like when she's all over you like a rash!

Mad bugger, has them at least once a year. Sad

What shall I put the foxes' supper on tonight? My best dinner plates? Grin

I have some Christmas paper plates with holly on. they might like those.

The thing is I feel a bit sorry for our visiting Hedgehogs (fat Barry and his Missus) who usually hoover up whatever is left. Sad Denied by the foxes. Sad

Penny that was hilarious - and just goes to show how widespread the problem has become

The foxes and the plastic trays - do you suppose they think they are somehow self-food-filling trays and that if they took them home they would have an endless supply of food without having to get their paws wet. Or could they be taking them to make Christmas decorations with? Or possibly concocting something that would include one size 10 mans brown lace up shoe and a small plastic watering can which our local fox has made off with. I don't think either they or the squirrels should be encourage on Minecraft

We also have a badger, so far he is no trouble...

Actually I have just remembered. DH said he put a foil tray out the other week and they took that too. Shock They are building a spaceship. For sure.

The foxes are taking the trays to decorate the christmas tree like Hare told them too. Wouldn't want Bear to experience the joy of christmas with a naked tree.

He is Three he is three times the size of Mrs Barry and he is a real gannet. Once Mrs Barry was just snuffling in the (now disappeared) plastic tray and Fat Barry came barrelling down the garden and shoved her out of the way, causing her to fall down the step. Shock

Squirrels were strangely quiet after this, usually I get harassed for nuts throughout the day.

I think they've got internet access. I think they MN. I think they're AMONGST US.

I also think Mrs B should LTB.

I would be very wary of the squirrel. I had one that used to sound it's warning call at me through the sky light. Not sure how I had pissed it off.

I have also ran out of a park because of them before. I was pushing ds in the pram, nobody else was about. I realised that 3 squirrels were getting a bit close and felt unnerved by them. I turned round to find another two behind me. They were trying to surround us!

Just had another thought. Do you think the cat is in on it and was trying to distract you while the squirrel got in your house?

There is a park in Chester where the squirrels are tame. One ran up my trousers. Shock

Oh don't curiosity, don't say they're in collusion. I thought there was a happy wildlife scene in the garden, not a terrorist cell Shock

Am inclined to agree the squirrels may be among us, they might have got away with it if Three's squirrel hadn't shown so much interest in the x-box controller

On a happier note I am pleased Mrs B is getting support (and mashed potato) from Mumsnet

Well Mrs B came super early and Fat Barry has only just been so i think she has taken the LTB thing on board.

Scabby fox has been and had his supper and so far my plate is still there.....

sparkling, if you went to bed, how do you know the foxes took the trays? They may have been framed (by the hedgehogs).

Sparklingbrook · 21/11/2013 21:37

Oh yes, it could have been an inside job by Fat B. It's the hedgehogs building the spaceship. Shock

I've posted this on her before, but a squirrel watched my DH wanking once

DH opened his eyes to see that it'd climbed in through the window and was just... staring Hmm

Letting one play video games seems positively wholesome by comparison :o

Thank goodness you didn't put out the best dinner plates Sparkling - I don't know what they are going to do with the paper plate. I can see the foil trays would be useful in the construction of a space ship but am worrying now that we are implicating poor Mrs B, Fat Barry and Scabby Fox in events that are probably being masterminded by the squirrels.

They have obviously been observing the human race very closely (unhealthily so in some cases Grin )
