To wonder if I'm allowed to shop in Waitrose?

One is opening nearby. I'm probably slightly lower middle class, I have ordered on-line from John Lewis, though, and I've never shopped in my pyjamas without a jumper and jeans on top.

Punk I am pretty sure they give us biscuits to calm us down, the queue gets pretty long for daily free coffee. Either that or it is a MN conspiracy to take over the world.

GypsyFloss · 18/11/2013 17:06

In my local one the queue for the tea and coffee is huge and they get stroppy if it runs out. I honestly don't know how the red trousered men and their tweedy wives managed without it .

ohmymimi · 18/11/2013 17:08

45 percent posh - and 55 percent oik apparently, even though no tabloid had ever crossed the threshold of my home. Well, that explains why I used to love Gateway Basics range.

Result I'm 13% posh on that other posh test! I've gone up in the social classes innit.

D'ya reckon tesco is still too posh for me though? I do shop there and wondering if I have ideas above my station Confused

Meerkatwhiskers · 18/11/2013 17:17

Also wondering if I'm the least posh person here Blush

Littleredsquirrel · 18/11/2013 17:18

I am 68 percent posh. How did that happen? Where must I shop?

Littleredsquirrel · 18/11/2013 17:18

Fk I hope they still let me into Home Bargains. I love that place.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 18/11/2013 17:22

meerkatwhiskers I had 10% so u Iz posher

TeaAddict235 · 18/11/2013 17:30

littleredsquirrel now home bargains is where its at. Don't let others know. Honest shopping!

thebody · 18/11/2013 17:31

god no I shop at ASDA.. there's an invisible barrier at our local Waitrose that stops me going in.

LadyLeah · 18/11/2013 17:34

10% posh! How I have gone up in the world! Nonetheless, I do love love Waitrose. I sometimes sneak in just to wander around and it makes me all happy and smiley. But obvs not posh enough to shop Grin. Sigh, best stick to Tesco with the other scallies!
What's the general consensus on Asda??? Or do I need to hang my head and leave by the back door?

Whistleblower0 · 18/11/2013 17:36

I'm not remotely posh, but i love waitrose. Couldn't afford to do a full shop there,- well maybe once in a blue moon, but i love going for a few bits and pieces, having my free coffee with my free waitrose card, and generally chilling out, for an hour with the paper.

I always feel really calm shoppong in waitrose. It's unlike any other supermarket shopping experience.

Dh has a john lewis credit card, and every six months or so, he gets a voucher to spend in either j lewis, or waitrose. I always nab it, and go on a mini spending spree in waitrose. Smile

cantbelievemyeyes · 18/11/2013 17:41

29% posh- It would have been higher, had I included the knowledge of horse riding, Polo and Ruperts I gained from reading every single Jilly Cooper novel while eating Supernoodle sandwiches. Though I think a question on the pronunciation of the word 'Belvoir' should really have been included.

I like Waitrose though. They have tasty fancy things that make you feel all fancy just from looking at them. Quails eggs, blinis and pork rillettes are much nicer than sausage rolls in my opinion.

Meerkatwhiskers · 18/11/2013 17:41

God I can't do asda. Please say tesco is ok. Plus it's nearer to my house. I will consider morrisons when it opens in my town lol.

Waitrose is in the town next door so def not a weekly shop kinda place and across the border in posh surrey, we have to show our poshness passports to get in ya know Wink. Our town ain't posh enough to have one.

Notcontent · 18/11/2013 17:42

I am not British so I don't understand the obsession with waitrose somehow being posh and that people might not shop there because they are working class. I just don't get it. I shop at lots of different places including waitrose. I don't buy any processed food or ready meals so the stuff I buy is not any more expensive than at waitrose. I often go to tesco for fruit and beg because my local one has a good selection and is cheap.

Chewbecca · 18/11/2013 17:48

No biscuits with our free hot drink either, might have to have a word. Never a queue either though, ours is a tiny store and you help yourself to the tea/coffee.

ohmymimi · 18/11/2013 17:55

Little red and Tea - Home Bargains and Super Savers, love them.

SueDoku · 18/11/2013 18:10

I'm 35% Posh - I just can't work out which third (+ a bit) of me that is..Grin

NoIHaventHadTheBabyYet · 18/11/2013 18:17

I am only 39% posh according to that test but our nearest Waitrose is many miles away and I often drive there as I like it so I must be vair posh.
We have a huge, green and leafy park in our town, everyone petitioned against there being a supermarket build on it. There were even protests.
My mum suddenly changed her mind when we heard it was a Waitrose and supported it. I guess she thinks overpriced tiny coffee brownies are a great reason to rip up hundred year old trees.

Eastwickwitch · 18/11/2013 18:31

I'm 75% posh & I luffs Waitrose. I also shop in Tesco too

Beastofburden · 18/11/2013 18:39

I hate all shopping and don't go to any supermarkets. My shopping is delivered, either by Ocado or by a family member unable to find a good reason why I should do it.

Do I win?

thebody · 18/11/2013 18:46

I have carnal knowledge of Netto. commen as fuck.

K8Middleton · 18/11/2013 18:51
